We use the Parents Choice Organic formula so far, and love it!

Re: Best Recommended Organic Formula?

Baby's Only. I used it from 1h after birth until 16 months old. Daughter grew great, with no issues like gas, diarrhea, ect. We picked it because it's organic, and it is the only formula on the market available that does not have DHA in it. I absolutely didn't want my DD exposed to DHA. We would order it directly from the company from their website and it was usually delivered next day. It was very convenient to have 24 cans stacked up in the pantry; never had to go running to the store. Now that DD drinks milk it seems like we're always running to the store to buy milk. Oh, how I long for the easy days of formula!

My best friend supplements due to low breastmilk supply, and she went through 4 or 5 different formulas (her doc told her baby was lactose intolerant, or needed predigested, etc), with her baby reacting badly to them all. Out of despiration she tried the can of Baby's Only Dairy that we gave her and all problems cleared right up.

Re: Best Recommended Organic Formula?

You can probably search this board for a more detailed explanation, but as I understand it, these are your options for organic formula: (1) Baby's Only, (2) Similac Organic and (3) Earth's Best. There are also a number of generics that are identical to Earth's Best.

The main difference among the brands is the sweetener. Breast milk is much sweeter (higher in lactose) than cow's milk, so formulas need to be sweetened with something. With non-organic formulas, the sweetener is just more lactose. But because organic lactose is expensive/hard to source, the organic formulas use something else to sweeten. I believe Similac Organic is sweetened with fructuse (?), which is basically table sugar. Baby's Only is sweetened with brown rice syrup, and Earth's Best is sweetened with corn syrup (not to be confused with high fructose corn syrup).

The other thing differentiating the brands is that both Similac Organic and Earth's Best (and generics) include DHA (which is included in every other non-organic formula on the market). Baby's Only does not have DHA.

After weighing the pros and cons of the different sweeteners and the DHA issue, we eventually threw it all out the window (!!) and went with Parent's Choice Organic (which is the Walmart brand, identical to the Earth's Best) because, guess what! It's WAAAY cheaper than the others ($14.97/can). My grocery store generic organic brand (Wegmans) is also the same as the Earth's Best, and they carry it for just a little more than Walmart. so much for all my research

hope this helps!
p.s. -- I'm no expert on this, I just learned this all from googling If anyone needs to correct me, I won't be offended!

Re: Best Recommended Organic Formula?

We used Similac Organic with DD1. When the twins are ready to switch from Neosure, we're planning to use Parent's Choice Organic this time.

Re: Best Recommended Organic Formula?

My ds is on Good Start but I am getting ready to try him on an organic formula and will be trying the Walmart organic. We already tried Baby's Only and he got horribly constipated.
