Tips for nursing a toddler?

My ds is almost one. Not quite a toddler but I have never nursed past 12 months. He currently nurses every 3 hours and has 2-3 solid meals a day. Do I keep offering to bf every 3 hours, offer more solids, offer bf less? How does this work with a toddler. Btw he never asks to eat but eats happily when I offer

Re: Tips for nursing a toddler?

Only you know when to stop offering to nurse. I believe in offering until they are at least 2 or have consistently showed that they are capable of asking. I also stop "offering" if they have consistently turned down a "usual" nursing for at least 2 weeks. DD turned down our "before dinner" nursing session in the last few weeks every single time for about 3 weeks. I figured I'd stop offering and she could ask if she needed it.
