I totally feel your pain... I was so cracked/sore on one side I would literally scream (turned out to be my higher-producing side, oddly enough). LC suggested a teeny tiny dab of polysporin (NOT neosporin), plus a schmear of lanolin. The lanolin is okay for baby and the tiny bit of polysporin will be absorbed by the skin, before baby feeds again. I don't think it really helps the current pain, but definitely helps the healing process and prevents infection. Wonderful stuff.
Hang in there. It will get easier!

Thank for all your advice! I got her to latch on and do a full feeding today with no nipple shield! No pain at all! I was nervous because I can still see the crack, but it is healed an does not hurt. Not sure
If the crack will ever go away, but that's ok I guess. Battle scars
