Re: Canadian shipping
I've asked and there is no insurance on surface. There is only insurance on air. I've had a few clerks try to argue me to pay less and I've only had 1 package not make it overseas out of 100 but I'll always pay for it. I think you are also only reimbursed for the cost you put on the label.

I vacuum seal my diapers and it doesn't always end up thin enough to go letter mail. And it really only works when selling 1-2 dipes or you'll be splitting up packages.
I find I can get away with 3 pockets (shells only) if they're small, or one pocket with an insert, or one AIO... but the inserts are really what kills it! I already had a vacuum sealer so it's been worth it for me, but I don't think I'd invest in one otherwise, unless I found a used one dirt cheap. CP rates are outrageous! Re: Canadian shipping
Just wanted to chime in that there is no DC or tracking (for free) on anything below Express and I'm pretty sure you still have to pay $2 extra to get DC on anything going to the US.
Expedited and Air will only track the item until it gets to the Canadian border then it says something like "Item has entered a foreign country" Also, Paypal only gives discounts to people with a business account, it's called a Small Business Discount. If you ship surface to the US the average price for 2 diapers weighing under 0.200kg will be about $6-$8. (maybe that's with my paypal discount as well, I'm not sure) But shipping from NS to BC for the same package has cost me over $12 numerous times. It's actually cheaper to ship to Australia than it is to ship within Canada. |

Wow that's nuts! I can't get over the fact that shipping to the states is cheaper....Australia though??? Unbelievable.

I've only done surface and air small packet and those don't have tracking numbers. My Paypal account is definitely not a business account, but I still get the small business discount. Everyone does. I think shipping large packages within Canada is quite reasonable. I shipped a box including 24 Kissaluvs and a purse from Ontario to BC, it was 6 lbs and it cost me $13 using Paypal shipping. I shipped a 5 lb box from BC to Alberta for about $11. On the other hand I shipped a PPB bag to the US and it cost me $20. |

Re: Canadian shipping
Yeah...BC to Alberta, even ONT to BC is more reasonable. I live on an island off of NS, shipping to the west coast in Canada is the most expensive shipping I have, it's more expensive than shipping to any other country and I've shipped all over Europe, Aus, Asia and South America. I don't think it's reasonable that I can ship 2 diapers anywhere in the US (including Hawaii and Alaska) for $5.85 and it costs me $10.89 to ship the exact same package to AB or BC when I'm in the same country, that's double the price. How is it reasonable that shipping large packages becomes cheaper than sending small packages within Canada? It still costs me $12-$20 to ship any of my wraps or carriers within Canada, depending on where it's going. Oh, and if it's going to the north, like Nunavut or NWT, forget it. Shipping 2 diapers to NU cost me $24. The pricing within Canada is totally out of whack and ridiculous, imo.
I've also told customers that they can track it via USPS site and they got upset because it didn't work any more than it did on the Canada Post site. My DH has a personal account even though he has a small business and he just said he's never got the amount of discounts I get with my business account. I guess you're just lucky. In any case, shipping within Canada really is more expensive...when I was at the PO yesterday the women behind the counter even stated: "shipping within Canada is always more expensive" and if a Canada Post employee can tell you that, perhaps there's some truth in it. In comparison to USPS, I find the whole thing really aggravating.. Just my 2 cents! Sent from my iPad using DS Forum
