HE Washing...What's your method?

I've been experimenting to find the best method to wash our diapers in our LG HE washer...so far:

Normal Setting
Set to Heavily Soiled (this uses more water)
Temp Hot
Rockin' Green detergent
extra rinse.

Haven't had any problems with stains that an extra run through the 'steam' setting didn't fix!

Oh, before washing we rinse with a sprayer, and store in a planetwise wet-dry bag. At first we were also spraying potential stain spots with diluted vinegar, but we quit doing that pretty quick! Bad for the diapers!

My son is EBF, so we don't rinse, spray, dunk, or swish diapers. They go straight from his bum to a hanging wetbag.

On laundry day (approx every 3rd day) I toss them in the machine and do the following:

1. Rinse + Spin (basically a pre-rinse)
2. Rinse + NO Spin (to soak the diapers--the easiest way to add water in my machine)
3. Heavy Duty w/ detergent (Purex F&C)

Then I line-dry anything with PUL and machine dry everything else on low (usually takes two dryer cycles).

If anything is stained, instead of drying it, I hang it sopping wet in the window. Despite it being very gloomy up north, the stains disappear like maaaaagic.

Oh, I'll definitely try the 'rinse/no spin.' We initially wanted to do a wet pail soak before washing, but we worried about having a big bucket of water just sitting around, as well as dumping said water into an HE machine. Didn't seem like it would work well for us.

I do a rinse-no-spin cycle on cold (8min)
heavy wash on hot with all free and clear 1/2 cap, ecover, and a splash of bleach (50min)
extra rinse and spin cycle on cold (15min)

then everything but covers and pockets in the dryer for 60 min and then covers and pockets go in for 15. I dry all on hot.

No stains, all elastic is great and so is the pul on everything

Call your manufacturer too. I called Samsung to ask some questions about adding more water, and they told me that the machine DRAINS all the water in the basin before it starts a cycle, so dumping water in is kind of futile, at least for my machine.

Re: HE Washing...What's your method?

I'd try a regular detergent if you are having smell issues. I had major issues with amonia on overnight diapers especially when I used rockin green. Once I switched to Cheer Free and Clear I had no more issues despite washing on warm.

My routine for our top loader HE though is:
Rinse with low spin
Bulky warm wash on heavy with detergent filled to line 1 and an extra rinse
Bulky warm wash on normal with white vinegar and extra rinse

We have soft water so the white vinegar helps get any remaining detergent out of the diapers.

I do a heavy wash cycle with cold on delicate and two rinses.
Then I do a heavy "normal" wash cycle on hot with two extra rinses.
If I am using rocking green hard rock then they are done. Right now we are using ecover so I have to do an additional two rinses as well.

PUL covers/pockets/AIO outers get hung to dry and inserts/prefolds/flats/fitteds get dried on ultra low for 1.5 hours and they're done.

We have an LG HE washer dryer combo.

I prewash with a small amount of det. On bulky warm. Then hot wash bulky with det on heavy setting. It's a top loading he. My diapers are immaculate. No stains.
