introducing a pillow and blanket
At what age did you introduce a pillow and blanket for your LO? My son is 16 mths old and has gone to bed with his lovey since he was about 9mths old. He has recently been tossing in stuffed toys before bed and using them as pillows at night. He loves to pull the pillows off the couch when he gets sleepy and lay on them as well. So I was wondering when I could maybe give him a little pillow. I know the "pros" say to wait til he is 2 but he seems like he wants one so what is your honest opinion?

Re: introducing a pillow and blanket
We got DD one of those small pillows you can get on an airplane. I made a pillowcase for it that matched her bedding and she loved it! It's about 12"x8" and super light. I think she was about 18 months when we introduced it, and we did for the same reasons you want to: she would roll up her blanket and use it as a pillow.

Re: introducing a pillow and blanket
DD1 stole a small throw pillow at 14mos. DD2 used her blanket starting at about 10mos so we got her a little travel pillow.

Re: introducing a pillow and blanket
We gave DS a pillow off our bed at around 20 months when we started transitioning toward him sleeping in his own bed. He always hogged my pillow while co-sleeping once he turned about 18 months.
We gave him a molded natural latex pillow so it's pretty firm.

Re: introducing a pillow and blanket
DS pretty much decided he wanted a pillow last month at 20 months himself. He took this old, flat pillow (which was my favorite!!!) off our bed before bedtime and brought it into his room and insisted it go in his crib. He has to have it every night now. He always had soft baby blankets since like a year but they never stayed on him or anything but then around 19 months when we moved and redid his room we bought a duvet and little comforter from Ikea and he uses that with his soft baby blankets now and actually stays under it all night.

Re: introducing a pillow and blanket
our DD (who is now 2) has been sleeping with her lovey for at least a year. She balls it up under her face. She HATED blankets otherwise and didn't even let US have them when we were curled up on the couch! Now she has her own pillow and blanket that I often find her wrapped up in/on. Some kids make the decisions for you!

Re: introducing a pillow and blanket
I have a super thin pillow on our bed. I may put it in at nap time tomorrow and see how he does!
I think he is telling me he would like it. Ive always pretty much let me led the way with things like starting solids, eating in general, and weaning so to me he is telling me "hey mom I want a pillow"
