super weird question about BM and tanning booths...

so i am not a big fan of tanning booths, but the weather has been super ugly and I just want to go to a booth for one session. I know this might sound dumb, but tanning booths definitely don't affect breast milk, right? I wouldn't want to do anything to compromise my son's well being.

Hmmm.... I have no idea. That is a good question!

Here is what I found on kellymom.com -

Tanning is completely compatible with breastfeeding and will not alter the milk whatsoever. There is no record of any dangers to the breastfed baby in relation to tanning. Sometimes clients are given Carotene to enhance the tanning - that should be avoided while breastfeeding. Make sure to protect your nipples from burn (for your own comfort more than anything), and keep in mind that ultraviolet exposure ages skin prematurely and increases the risk of cancer.

Is it safe to use a tanning bed? Will it affect my breastmilk? LLL FAQ

I went a couple times while bfing and I used the little "eye dome shield things", the disposable ones that just sit on your eyes. Just put them over my nipple and didn't get any discomfort there. I miss the after tan feeling but have decided not to go again. I just feel guilty every time I do. I have such a qhostly complexion though

Re: super weird question about BM and tanning booths...

I've been having bad acne since DS was born and tanning is the only thing that helps. I've been tanning 4-5 days out of the week for the past 3 weeks and there's no change or harm to the breast milk. It's essentially like being in the sun for a long time. Just be careful not to burn! I burned once and my Ds grips my boob when he eats and I was literally in tears.
