Bulk Flour Buyers... how best to store it?
I did see another post asking a similiar question... but it was older and I wanted to get a few other ideas if possible! I always get great ideas from you Mamas... so I am wondering how you store your bulk flour? I know I have talked to a couple other mamas about Azure and bulk items from them... I just got the 50lb of organic flour from Azure and I was told that the 5gal pail and gamma lid hold 25lbs of flour nicely... I don't mind trying those pails and lids on my next Azure order, but would love to know if there is another option or container that would hold all 50lbs of flour?...rather than having to have 2 pails for white flour and another one for whole wheat flour. We were checking out the air-tight dog food containers online and at petsmart...but they are so pricey!!
Plus, I am not sure what they are made out of and am a little concerned with the container I put my organic flour in.If the pails and gamma lids are best... we'll go that route...but just thought I would make sure! Thanks Mamas!

Here is how I store my flour. It holds 50lbs perfectly. It isn't airtight but i go through flour so fast it isn't a worry. I go through 25-30 pounds a month.
image-961444407.jpg Blue tote is flour, red bucket is oats and white is sugar. ETA the red and white are former food containers but the blue is just a tote. I'm not worried about using it because it does not get heated. Really, I can spell. It's my phone that can'tSent from my iPhone using DS Forum

Thanks Mama... you have a good system there
I am not sure I will go through the flour quite as quickly, so would love something airtight. Thanks for your post!

Re: Bulk Flour Buyers... how best to store it?
I'm not sure if it's exactly air tight, but rubbermaid makes a 10 gallon food storage bucket (also known as Brute). I searched your CL, and I didn't see one used, but you could try your local restaurant supply re-sellers. They are only about $15-$20 and are made for food storage (that's what restaurants use). You can also buy a more pricey restaurant flour storage container, but I don't think it's worth it when you can get two azure buckets for $5 each plus two air-tight lids for $7 each. I also heard from someone on here that found a BPA free, food storage 5 gallon bucket at lowes, but I haven't looked myself to know if they are everywhere or just at their store.

Thanks Ladies! I think I will look into the Rubbermaid one and also get a couple of the Azure pails on my next order!

I store mine in 5 gallon buckets with the gamma lids. I also store sugar, rice and beans that way
