BFP and Scared - Cramping, Spotting, Progesterone Issues

I am 12DPO and got a faint faint BFP yesterday, a bit darker this morning (not really dark - but normal for me @ 12DPO).

I have never conceived without Prometrium (despite years of trying, my only previous 2 successful cycles were when I took Prometrium after ovulation). I have low progesterone and slight luteal phase defect.

This cycle, I did not take Prometrium because we were NTNP just for this month. Yesterday, I was having cramping all morning and thought AF was coming. Took a test yesterday mid-day and got the 1st faint BFP.

Immediately, I started the Prometrium regimen (100mg, suppositories, 2x/day).

I had spotting all day yesterday and then quite a bit this morning when I first woke up, although it's tapered off now. Definitely not AF but a noticeable amount, and I am having cramping that definitely feels like AF cramping.

I know these things can be normal for early pregnancy, but I am SO STINKIN PETRIFIED. I did have AF cramping where I swore AF was coming any moment around when I got my BFP with my first pregnancy (resulting in DD), but I had none of the spotting I'm having now.

Any words of reassurance? Tell me about your pregnancies where you had spotting and/or cramping around when you got your BFP. I was super thrilled to see today's HPT a little darker. We want this baby like crazy. I had a loss at 11 weeks last year due to a subchorionic bleed, and I just don't want to go through that again. I'm so scared. Also worried that I didn't start the progesterone on time and this pregnancy will fail because of that

I've been praying like crazy for you Sarah! I had cramping with this bean, felt like af was coming but way too early (I think I had an early implanter) then I did after my bfp around 7w and went to the er....it was painful cramping light bleeding, felt a lot likey loss so I was very scared, I had a small tear where the placenta was trying to snuggle in, I took it easy for a week and all is good now. Also my mom had hormone issues with my little brother and didn't start her regime until after her bfp and he just turned 17 :-)

Re: BFP and Scared - Cramping, Spotting, Progesterone Issues

Thank you Alicia I appreciate your prayers and kind words. I am bleeding and cramping - I wouldn't say it's AF, my AF cramps are crazy bad (like I can't function without 3-4 ibuprofen or tylenol) and this is definitely tolerable - but I don't feel that it's good. Tests are not getting lighter, yet, though. So I will be taking the Prometrium till they do, just in case.

No - not really - I mean, I know what they'll say (wait and see) and the OB who prescribed my Prometrium really is not too familiar with taking it for fertility issues. Like, I had to tell her what dosage to prescribe and even why I needed to take it. I suppose I could request betas but I am about 90% sure the outcome is not going to be good so I think I'm just going to stay home and rest and try to deal with this emotionally.
