Why is this happening?

I started to cd my younger DD at 15 months.....

Well, before that she had NEVER had a diaper rash.....not even a red bottom! Ever since I started cding I am battling diaper rash, red booty....whatever constantly!!!!!

Why? Am I doing something wrong! I'm just so frustrated right now.....

We just dealt with DD crying and saying "shewwweeee mama!" since it hurt every time she peed! We are changing her constantly.... I just hate it when she hurts like that and I just want to know why?

I have cloth that's suedcloth, microfleece and OV.....today she wore FB, OV fitteds with shorties....and then more microfleece?

What am I doing wrong!?!

Please help.

Re: Why is this happening?

We have the same problem with dd and I have found that I have to strip my diapers almost every wash and also change her constantly. (I know you said you do but I mean like as soon as she pees) Even in my FB I use an extra fleece liner cause it helps to draw the moisture away a little more.

One other thing I have been doing is to coat her bum with some vaseline. Not thick and make sure to use a liner but that way she has a little barrier to keep the wet ness out. I hope that some of this helps you and your little one as I know the pain.

OK, a few ??'s....

What is your wash routine?

What are you using to wipe her?

How often do you change her?

Could it be something in her diet that's causing this that she wasn't eating before?

Okay....let's see.....

I wash with a cold rinse first.... (I have a diaper sprayer so there's not ever poo in the wash either...I'm a germaphobe)

I then wash on hot with the super cycle with Allen's Naturally detergent...I barely use any....way below what's recommended....

Two days ago I did a soak/rinse to make sure there weren't bubbles....not a single bubble!!!! I'm very paranoid about build up...

I dry on high but 3 days ago I line dried some to see what it would do? I have dryer balls so I don't use fabric softener for any of my laundry.....

Wow....that was long....moving on.

I have cloth wipes that I use baby bits solution in a warmer or NE foaming wipes solution....I use the latter the most but starting today DD was screaming like it burned so I switched to warm water.

I change her at least every two hours.....I like to have her in fitteds only since it's so hot here in TX so I constantly check to make sure she's not too wet.

There is the occasional long trip to the store in a Bumgenius with a fleece liner but not enough to matter?

Re: Why is this happening?

Could she be sensitive to synthetic fibers? You might try putting her in only natural fiber fitteds and let her go coverless to see if that helps.

I was going to say the very same thing. Also I would continue using just water on your wipes. I hope it gets better fast.

Re: Why is this happening?

My dd gets rashy from wipe solution, so maybe that's it. Possibly, you could be using too little detergent?

Re: Why is this happening?

Oh, hugs mama- we are battling diaper rash right now too! I just don't know what to do either! Today I have spent the whole day stripping all of her dipes, so she's in sposies until that's finished, but her poor poor bottom!! And it hurts to wipe her and it hurts to put the vaseline or A&D ointment on, poor babe!!
I hope you get it all figured out! me too!

Re: Why is this happening?

Could be the materials in the dipes? We can't use OV because my son's tushie has a reaction to it. We also had a little sensitivity to the fleece in FBs. Since switching to mostly all cotton fitteds and prefolds, no probs.

Hope you find something that works. It is frustrating.
