Healing suggestions for Episiotomy

Anyone have any homeopathic remedies for helping my episiotomy cut heal faster?? It was a 2nd degree...not super bad, but want to get it healed as soon as possible...

My DS was born on Friday, he is another miracle baby of mine now. He was SO tangled in his cord, that by the time he crowned his cord was wrapped twice around his neck extremely tight and was preventing him from coming out fully. His heart rate basically flatlined and my doctor had to cut me to reach in there and pull him out enough to cut his cord from his neck and pull him out. He had an APGAR score of 1 when he came out, but 5 minutes later moved to a 9!

SCARY delivery, but thank god everything turned out OK.

Anyone have any product suggestions to help me heal?

I also had a 2nd degree. I used witch hazel and hydrocortisone cream. And lots of icepacks!! Also soaking in an Epsom salt bath for 20 mins twice a day helps.

I read a woman's birth story of DS yesterday and she used Nori for her tear and after doing some reasearch some midwives prefer it of suturing because it's so healing. Soak it in water first so it's pliable and put it on your tear. Nori is the kind of seaweed used for sushi, so it's a big rectangle shape.

I had one with my first and a tear with my second. I adore Earth Mama Angel Baby mama bottom balm and mama bottom spray. AMAZING stuff!

Re: Healing suggestions for Episiotomy

I have had two 2nd degree tears and this time around I have avoided cold (reading about mother roasting) and gone for as-hot-as-I-can-stand baths. The heat promotes blood flow, which in turns helps heal the tissue faster down there. I have also used postpartum bath herbs and lavender flowers, in a shallow bath, as well as in my peri bottle.

Make sure you're eating well and taking prenatal vitamins also (I didn't with DD and think that played a big part in how slowly I healed).

Re: Healing suggestions for Episiotomy

Pour some witch hazel on pads and stick them in the freezer... Take out and use as needed. soothing, cool, helps swelling go down... It helped provide relief after my 4th degree tear with my first son.

I have c-sections now, but even smelling witch hazel brings me back to #1's postpartum recovery!

I have some mama healing bath herbs. If you want to pm me I'll send you some. You either draw a little bit of water in the tub or do a sitz bath, steep the herbs and add them to the water. Feels amazing! and helps to heal faster.

Epsom salt baths were my post partum best friend!!! I avoided the first 2 days because I honestly couldn't fathom how I would manage to get myself in the tub. But finally had DH help me get in the tub and I was amazed at how much it helped. I took 2 baths per day for several days.

Bellis Perennis, Staphysagria, and Calendula are homeopathic remedies that have bee recommended for cutting/episiotomies/tearing.
