Eating a large meal before GD test, ideas please!

I know I can decline the GD test, but my OB said I could do it any way I liked and said just to eat a large meal 2 hrs before my next appt (29 wks) and they would draw blood then. So, what is the best thing to eat for that? Stuff with a lot of sugar (toast and jam or honey) or very little sugar? My appt is at 10 and I will be leaving before 9, so I will be eating early-ish.
TIA!

My midwife recommends eating a large meal with protein and fat and carbs- like an egg, bacon, and pancakes. Or oatmeal with butter and an egg and a banana. You want the meal to be heavy on the carb side, but also closer to representative of what you actually would be eating. 2 pieces of toast with butter, fruit, and an egg would probably work also.
I tried eating a carb-heavy meal before my appointment, but the midwife said that it probably wasn't enough and I just ended up declining it. I don't really ever eat sugar without fat/protein, so I was confident that I'd be okay.

yeah, adding fruit juice will amp up the carbs I always forget about that, because I never drink juice unless it's in a smoothie, and that's on the rare side.

I did the GD test last pregnancy and my midwife had me eat 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast with butter, a glass of OJ and coffee, if you want, for breakfast before the test.

My OB and MW actually suggest not eating prior to the GD test because most of the time it'll show up that you have GD when you don't. That is for the 1 hour. They've told me to have the GD test early in the morning and just eat before bed and not eat again until after the test.

Hmm... with DS, I ate cookies for breakfast about 2 hours before the test and failed it by a few points. With DD, I didn't eat anything that morning and failed it by a few points. Both 3 hour tests came back completely normal, though.

interesting! I think even if I fail, I won't do the 3 hr test, I dunno. I don't anticipate failing, though!

28 jelly beans is equivalent to the glucola (our office does that if the glucola won't stay down!) :-)
