Lanolin spots?!

Very time I lanolize I get spots, what am I doing wrong?! Help!

I used to get spots because the lanolin was not completely dissolving in the water. I was able to solve that problem by using SUPER hot water (either from the tap or I microwave it) and put it in a glass jar. Then I add just a little bit of wool wash and then the lanolin. Shake it up vigorously and this usually dissolves the lanolin fully, just be sure to have some sort of washcloth or something you can use to protect your hands while holding the jar because it's hot! There are some youtube tutorials on doing this (that's how I figured it out) if you want to see a visual. HTH!

What is your routine? I would assume your lanolin is not fully dissolved and emulsified before you add it into the wash water.

My routine:
*Fill a baby bottle with HOT water
*Add 4 tsp of Eucalan and 1 inch of Lansinoh to the hot water (you need the soap to emulsify the lanolin with the water... oil and water don't mix!)
*Fill the kitchen sink with body temperature water while you wait for the lanolin to melt
*Shake the heck out of the baby bottle until the solution looks white and no more lanolin is floating
*Add the contents of the bottle to the sink and swirl it around with your hand
*Add woolies and give them a squeeze
*Soak and squeeze them every so often for 30-60 min
*Wring them out (I use spin cycle for interlock and roll in a towel for knits)
Lay flat to dry

The above advice sounds good! I'll also add that if you use recycled wool, don't wring it out though. You can lay it flat inside a towel and press on it to get the extra water out. You can also turn your wool inside out, so if there are any spots they will just be on the inside of the covers, where extra lanolin is probably a good thing.
