Tubes tied.
Has anyone asked their doc about tying their tubes? I am pregnant with my 3rd and my dh has a clotting disorder. So I am thinking its safer for me to get my tubes tied. The problem? Well I have vaginal deliveries and if this one is a vaginal delivery how do they tie the tubes? Do they cut you open?

Re: Tubes tied.
I think so. MIL had hers down a few years after she had DH and that is what they did.

Re: Tubes tied.
You would have surgery a day or two after birth. Yes, there would be incisions, but they are much smaller than they used to be, as it's done laprascopically.

Re: Tubes tied.
DH is getting a vascetomy so a tubal is not in my future.
But I do agree with what the PP said. It will most likely be a outpatient laparoscopic procedure. I had a laparoscopic procedure done back in 2003 to have a dermoid cyst removed from my left ovary that was the size of a lemon. The scars left by it are barely noticeable. The only one I can find anymore is the one in my naval where they put the scope in. I can't find the other incisions on my stomach anymore. Probably because they're hiding in the sea of stretch marks left by DS1 It didn't hurt coming out of recovery. The only thing that really stunk was being able to breathe afterward because they pump your insides with gas to separate the organs so they can maneuver. I just had to sit in recliner to sleep the first few days. It really wasn't that bad.

Re: Tubes tied.
When I worked L&D, and someone who had a vag. delivery wanted their tubes tied, they went down for surgery the next day, and just had 3 little incisions, each about 3/4" long, 1 inside their belly button, and 2 on their lower abdomen.

Re: Tubes tied.
Just wanted to update 18 mths later my baby girl (my 3rd) was born June 26th 2011 and I had her and then a day later was taken down to surgery had a little bit of a tough time coming out of the spinal but after was great. I had incision (just one) in my belly button. Had about 5 days after I was super sore. It was kinda rough but it went well. Had some trouble with my milk coming it (took almost a week) but it came in and have nursed successfully even now. She is night nursing now only anyways wanted to come and update how well I did and she's done. Thanks for reading.
