Potty Training help needed

Help!! How do I get my 2 1/2 yo to realize she needs to potty on her own?

She does great if I remind her to go and will go do it all by herself. She loves her Princess panties and even stays dry during nap time. I can usually take her to the store in panties although we sometimes use pull ups just in case. However, she will not go on her own. She will poop and pee in her panties. It doesn't seem to faze her at all.

My oldest DD was potty trained completely in a week. But it is not so easy this time!

Any tips for helping her recognize the urge to go?

Thanks!!

The best advice I can give is not to push. Make it an option and let them make the decision. 2 1/2 is still pretty young. My oldest was using the potty very early, and dd#2 much later. I realized early on that the only one being stressed out was ME. With #3 and #4 I just had the attitude, eh they will do it when they are ready.

We are right there with you right now! Andy does mind when he pees in his underwear - just not when he poos! He will tell us that he needs to go when we are in stores, out of the house, etc. But, as soon as we get in the house, all of those "rules" fly out the window and he won't go unless we suggest it and take him to the potty. Once he's there, he'll go. I just finally gave up my pushing and thought that we'll just have to wash more loads of laundry until he takes it upon himself to get himself to the potty in time. It is really hard though.

She's only 2.5. Give her time. Try not to stress about it, or make her stress about it. My DD is almost 2.5 too and has barely even started to potty train. It's just not her thing yet. She is in panties most of the time, but thats just to save me on diapers I change her panties about as much as I change my baby's diaper.

They'll get it when they're ready. She won't be going to kindergarten in diapers so don't push it yet.
