Your favorite velcro/aplix/touchtape covers? Spam ok
ETA: spam ok, but please post to thread.
I went through a spate of buying velcro/aplix/touchtape covers when building our nanny stash, and am now trying to figure out which to keep for a future baby and which to sell. I'm thinking for a future baby we will mostly use wool, but I like to keep some PUL wrap covers on hand for sitters and DH when he's in that mood. =) I'm also looking for recommendations of other covers that may work... if there are some good options out there, I may get rid of some of these that I'm on the fence about. My must haves: - soft, no scratchy edges - prefer sized, but OS ok as long as the adjustment isn't too confusing - can be used for trifolded or folded prefolds - WAHM or otherwise - both are fine! - "AI2" systems are fine... as long as I can use prefolds in them Here's the stash, and my take on them: ON THE FENCE ABOUT THESE.... Softbums ECHO - like them fine, definitely soft and no velcro scratching. too narrow in the crotch and can be prone to leaks if you're not careful about tucking in or if you overstuff. Keep or sell? Flips - I have a love/hate relationship with these. The inserts don't really stay put trifolded, and we have had some issues with the corner of the aplix rubbing against the thighs. They are super trim and I really like the elastic, though. Plus great colors. Keep or sell? KEEPING THESE... Bummis BSWW - A really really nice cover, great velcro, soft. A bit thicker than the others I've tried, though. I'm keeping these. Nikky and Niji cotton - really liked these, but hated that I felt like I had to hand wash them to keep them nice (although, I have machine washed them with the diapers and they have been fine... I'm hesitant to do this too often). Hanging onto them for now. SOLD/SELLING THESE.... Bummis SuperLite - LOVED the trimness and fit, soft elastic. This one *could* have been the perfect cover if the dang velcro didn't go all the way to the edge and cause abrasions. Too bad. I sold these. Thirsties v2 sized and duo - Didn't like the fit of these on my DS, so I sold them already. Imse Vimse soft cover - Love the feel of this cover, but too baggy for trifolding. Selling it. [U] Prorap - I tried these with DS in the itty bitty stage and they were too stiff on his belly (bad for reflux). Sold these. Grobaby/Grovia - tried these a while back and liked them. But I didn't like that they used the different size of snaps, so I couldn't make my own inserts. Sold these.

Keep the SoftBums, the Echo though narrow for older babes, will be great for newborn and smaller babes over fitteds prefolds etc. It is only when they get quite a bit bigger that the tucking becomes an issue (not sure how big/old your lo one was when you started using them). Alternatively, that is why Sarah came out with the SoftBums Omni which is an inch wider in the crotch to provide a still trim diaper but will fit toddlers longer and works better with prefolds into the toddler stage.

The Swaddlebees Capri sounds like it might fit the bill. Amazing size range, fantastic Aplix, great as an AI2 but also over fastened prefolds or fitteds!

well ..... you probably wont like bummis originals if you dont want to baby your covers at all but they ime/imo the best trifolding covers out of the huge pile of them i've tried. In the last 6 years I wouldnt be surprised if I've tried 30-40 covers
![]() sunseedlings also makes a decent trifold cover - side aplix and suen designs holds a trifold alright as well nikkys isnt bad but I think the other three do a better job if you like bsww for trifold I'd suggest green earth covers. they are softer, trimmer and cheaper, wipeable but a similar fit/style

Try the sized Thirsties covers. I liked them much better than the Duos.

If you like the Bummis SWW except for the bulk and the Thirsties sized except for the fit you might try the Bummis Super Brite. It has only one layer of PUL so it's trimmer than the SWW. It's the same construction as Thirsties sized but a narrower fit in general and cut higher on the leg. I love both the SB and Thirsties but the SB fits skinny babies better.

I like weehuggers. The Velcro is super strong and the 'mittens' are so cute.
