OP uses cloth, obviously. She knows sposies are full of chemicals, but her friend doesn't. So why are we bashing the OP

Maybe a wool cover? Or show her the flips disposable inserts?

Re: Cover over a sposie?

Any fabric could work as a cute cover over a disposable, actually...two layers of cotton turned and top stitched would be adorable! and super breathable, since the disposable is already wateproof.

I have used flip covers over disposables before, when I was traveling and DD was in that explosive stage. They caught anything that escaped the diaper, it was awesome. She actually did not seem extra hot...it worked fine.

If she's really not open to cloth, but she wants cute diapers, The Honest Company has REALLY cute sposies that are more eco friendly. And you can pick your patterns. That might be a good option. We have some of those.

Re: Cover over a sposie?

I would get her a demo kit that had the covers like Flip or GroVia, but also had some of the disposible inserts that go along with it. So she can have her cute covers without the hassle. I'm having a hard time figuring out what the difference is between slapping a cover over a sposie and using disposible inserts. GroVias inserts in particular have the same stuff as sposies just less of it. We try not to use disposible inserts period, but sometimes the situation calls for it.

She just more concerned about putting chemical ridden sposies on her poor little babies bum. Quick, someone call CPS!
Ditto this. I might try wool covers (they make some really cute embroidered or applicated (sp?) covers that would still be breathable.

Re: Cover over a sposie?

What about the g-diaper covers? They are easy to get locally (I can get them at the local London Drugs) and aren't they supposed to be more breathable than most other covers? Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I've never used them. Plus, they're super trim.

That's actually a good idea. G diapers have a removable liner, so if you take it out, the diapers will breathe easily, since there's no TPU on the inside.

See, that's what I thought. That way it'd just be cotton over the disposable diaper, right?
