I see CNMs and they don't see you until 9 weeks.

Mine is Friday & I'll be 5 wks 5 days. My OB had me in for quants check the day after I got my BFP...I was 11 DPO. Once they confirmed my numbers were increasing properly they scheduled my appt. I m/c in December so he wanted to stay on top of things from the moment I found out. I just love him!

I was 6w1d at my annual exam, they just did a urine test. I also see CNMs, and my first real appt will be 10w1d. They wanted to wait until 12w, but I could not wait that long!

I had a blood test done at 5 weeks, but I won't be seen by my OB until around 10 weeks

Re: When did/do you have your first appt?

Congrats on the twins!

Now I am wondering, would a first appt at 10 weeks be an ultrasound or just blood work and doppler? I love my CNM practice for GYN care, but they are soooo laidback for OB stuff. Seriously, for my annual and + urine test I only saw a midwive student, and she didn't give me any literature, tell me to avoid anything, tell me to TAKE anything, nothing.

Maybe I should be a little squeaky wheel. I'm trying to act calm and not call them with every little question, but I shouldn't have to be google searching everything either.

Sorry, tired and grumpy.

Re: When did/do you have your first appt?

It depends on the midwife. At the homebirth practice where I worked, clients only got a 20 week anatomy ultrasound, unless they were uncertain of their LMP, or if we didn't get heart tones at 12 weeks. If they are a laid back practice and you are sure of your dates, then they'll probably just doppler heart tones and get new OB labs and do an exam. I'd mention that you didn't get any education at your last appointment, it's important that they get feedback to give their student.
