How many diapers for a 3 month old?

We are trying to be thrifty and not buy more diapers than we need, but I'd like to only do laundry a couple days a week. How many diapers do you think I need per day at this age?

I would count on using 8-10 diapers in a day. You might not *need* that many, but it is no fun to be cutting it close and run out if you don't wash soon enough. If you change every 2 hours during the day, and 1-2 times at night, that is easily 8+ diapers.

I wash every other day, and I loved having 24 at that age so I had a few backups if I didn't get to laundry right away, or went through a couple more diapers than I planned on.

DD is 3 1/2 mos. and I easily go through 10-14 in a 24 hr period. She HATES being wet though, so I change fairly often.

Figure about twelve a day, washing every three days you'd need about 48 (36 in the wash, 12 to wear on wash day.)

I'd say about 12/day.

This is about right. The extra 12 could be flats or econobums that way you stay within your budget and baby doesn't have to wear newspaper while her dipes are drying

I'd say 24-30 depending on how often you do laundry.

Re: How many diapers for a 3 month old?

You probably could get by with 36 washing every 3rd day. I had 37 up until the beginning of this week & normally was fine (DD just turned 4 months). Every once in awhile I had to do wash earlier. I now have 42 diapers & don't expect to have to wash sooner than every 3rd day. I normally wash every other day though.

Re: How many diapers for a 3 month old?

My DS is 3.5 months old and it's rare if we use 10 diapers a day. But we don't change at night. I use a extra doubler and bigger insert in a pocket diaper for night time and he goes 8 hours. During the day I change when he's poopy, fussy or after feedings every 3 hous or so. . .but he's not a super soaker and usually only poops every 3 days or so. On those days I probably go through closer to 10 diapers though. I would suggest 24 diapers to be comfortable washing every 2 days. More if you want to go three days and don't want to be stuck with no diapers left.

DD is 4.5mo and we go through 10-12 a day. You could probably do 36 and be ok.
