I meant to post this on Sunday when I finished spinning this yarn, but I forgot



It's part of a custom for Michelle (Muttaqin) and is currently being made into a soaker. I've started one leg cuff, so it should be done shortly, and I'll get pictures of that too

This is hands down the softest yarn I've ever knit with... so far at least. I bought the roving from handpaintedyarn.com and it was a bit of a pain to spin since the staple is so short, but I got it done I think perhaps I will dye up some of my 80's count merino and spin that next (or maybe after I spin the BFL I dyed a couple months back, that's just been sitting.. hmm!).. I've been afraid of the 80's merino, since it's expensive, but it should actually be softer than this stuff is.. I can hardly even imagine

And the yarn I spun yesterday... it's BFL that I dyed in shades of pink and gold.. like two months ago! I totally should have dyed more of this (and in fact, I may try to repeat the colorway and do just that when the 3 POUNDS of BFL roving I ordered the other day gets here!).. this skein is just over 3oz, about 145 yards... more than enough for a soaker, but I'd totally love shorts out of it.

Dyeing unspun wool is a little terrifying though... roving and top can felt *so* easily... and that's a lot of wool to waste if you mess up! lol It's neat to see how the colors actually turn out once it's spun though It's a much different result than dyeing yarn.

those are both gorgeous sarah! i really love the purple - i was just thinking the other day that i'd like to dry a really deep eggplant & bright green colorway combo (inspired by a purple diaper & green & yellow top dd had on the other day).

and i just love that pink & gold - that's one of my current fav color combos for dd.
