Unhappy Not sure what else to try...

Hello, mommas,
My dds ans i are sick today, but the one I'm most concerned about is my 14 month old. She started throwing up last night ( twice) and finally fell asleep at 2:45am. She has slept off and on for most of the day...the problem is I can't get her to eat anything and was only able to get about 3 oz of water into her since 2:45am. She is a very active baby who normally won't stay in her playpen at all, but today she has done nothing! No walking, crawling, talking, just some pathetic whimpering. Gave Tylenol for the fever. Open to ideas...
Thanx
Shannon

Are you nursing her?

BM is the BOMB for sick kids.

Hope she feels better soon.

wow, all the more reason not to stop! Sorry to hear that!

Anyway, get some pedialyte and give her a little bit each hour to make sure she stays hydrated. If her fever isn't high, you may want to leave it alone as fevers are one of the body's natural disease fighters. I only medicate/treat fever if it's high or causing discomfort.

Hope you both feel better soon!

Re: Not sure what else to try...

When my DS was on the verge of being admitted due to dehydration from a stomach bug, they told us to take him home and give him tiny amounts of Pedialyte by syringe as a last resort.

My kids usually like the Pedialyte popsicles better than drinking the stuff. If they won't drink anything I'll offer them any type of popsicle though and even something like Sprite if dehydration is an issue. Something, even if it isn't what you'd normally give your child, is better than nothing.

My ds will eat the Pedialyte Popsicles or drink the Pedialyte from the single juice bottles they come in. Even when he will not drink anything else. So I would try those but if he is lethargic I would go to the hospital dehydration is very serious. Once a child gets severly dehydrated they get dehydrated easier the rest of their lives.

Re: Not sure what else to try...

Thank you all for your advice! I gave her the pedialyte popsicle and it made all the difference in the world! She's still tiring easily, but for a little while she was just like herself! I'm going to give her another in an hour or so, once I know it's not coming back up! LOL
Thanks!!
