Tattoos while preggo

I'm a tattoo addict, and friends with many artists who all agree DON'T do it, and stay away from any artist who WILL do it.

My tattoo artist won't tattoo pregnant or nursing women... you might be out of luck. I wouldn't do it because I trust my artist but if you can find someone, and you feel comfortable doing it, go for it.

I used to work at a tattoo shop so im all for them. But anytime a pregnant or underage person came in to get one we would turn them away. Many times they would say something along the lines of "well fine ill just go somewhere else and give them my business" to which I always replied "well fine but I would seriously question the cleanliness and abilities of any shop that will tattoo you"
Our consent form specifically asked if you were pregnant or breastfeeding....

Wouldn't do it, I have a tattoo artist that I love and asked her one time why she can't tattoo a pregnant woman and she told me the pain has put some women into labor, which can cause loss or miscarriage, in addition to previous concerns-I don't know how much research was done on that, but it wouldn't be worth the risk IMO

Nope, I wouldn't do it while pregnant or bf'ing. Which is why I got three tattoos last summer before we started TTC. Had to get it out of my system for a while.

(super tattooed here) Any reputable tattoo artist will not, under any circumstance, tattoo a pregnant mama...even if it's tiny. It can cause spontaneous miscarriage. Not to mention the risk of infection, contraction of disease, etc.

I know it sucks, I go crazy not getting tatooed while prego too, but you shouldn't do it.

I have a tattoo artist friend from high school who, the other day while tattooing a mutual friend, explained that it's because of the risk of infection. She said it with a regretful and annoyed look on her face, but she is EXTREMELY professional, and said she would never do it.

DH is heavily tattooed. His BEST friend is a tattoo artist.
Honestly, I think if I wanted something done he'd do it.. But only because I'm his best friend's wife and the risk is actually low.

HOWEVER, it's not a matter of HOW dangerous it is, as apposed to how professional/clean/skilled/reputable an artist willing to do it would be. I'd stay far far away from anyone who'd do it. Consider it a flashing red light.
What other areas do they cut corners in? Are they really so desperate that they're willing to take a pregnant woman when nobody else will?

I don't personally think the tattoo *itself* is very risky, but unless it was a close and personal friend I had an in with, there's just no way I'd consider it.
