Definitely read Ina May's guide. There's a lot of very good information in there as well as a lot of positive birth stories that are very uplifting.

Re: I did not want to spend my next pregnancy terrified

when i was given medication at the hospital of Dd they where trying to induce, i started seeing things. I don't remember it but my Dh said i woke up form my drugged sleep to ask why the black birds where flying around the ceiling in the hospital, that was for DD. For Ds i did not have an option to vbac bc of the town being so small. When we finally start ttcing for #3 i would have liked to find a doctor that will do a vbac. Good luck in your search!

I have not read all the posts but I think you should look for a new doctor start interviewing them!!!! There has to be a decent practice over there with good doctors and midwives. I had a horrible recovery from my first C-section but my second was so much easier due to not laboring, but I took RX painkillers stronger than advil....
Also, maybe your regular doctor would prescribe a painkiller for you if your OBGYN wont?
Good luck and stay positive.

I think at one point you said your mom was coming in from the US? I know this is probably...not the most legal thing...but does she have any to bring with her? I just think that with all you have posted regarding your anxiety and your previous experience, you may want to stack the odds in your favor as much as possible. If your mom has ever been prescribed them and they are just sitting around, it's legal for her to have them and carry them. I normally would never advise anyone to take anyone else's drugs, but if I were in your shoes I might check into that

Re: I did not want to spend my next pregnancy terrified

I have had four cesareans mama, and actually your first is the most painful. I didn't want or need the vicodin they gave me for recovery with the others. In post op they will give you something in your IV, I don't remember what it was. By the time I could walk I was only taking ibuprofen and walking back and forth to the NICU every two hours.

I hope for your sake you can have a successful and peaceful VBAC. Have you considered counseling?
