Re: progestogine (dl?) shots?
I took them with my 14mo and I wouldn't do it again, personally. I got mine at 16 weeks and got another every 2 weeks after that. They were supposed to stop at 36 weeks.
It didn't seem to work for me. I mean, I had her at just shy of 34 weeks after 2 days of getting a bunch of other meds to try to stop the labor. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I suppose for the majority of folks, it does. But for me, it just didn't. Also every time I got a shot I could barely keep my eyes open. One of the side effects can be drowsiness and I definitely got that! It was awful trying to come home from the dr's office, so drowsy I felt like I'd taken Benedryl, and then try to chase after 3 kids all day & clean house. But there are many other people who have positive experiences, you know? I don't want to scare you. Good luck!

Re: progestogine (dl?) shots?
I have to go to the Dr office to get them once a week. Did them with my previous pregnancy too and we made it 35 weeks. It hurts a little to get them and can be a little itchy at the injection site after but otherwise no major side effects.

Re: progestogine (dl?) shots?
I get them at my General Practitioner's office every Monday. I started at 18 weeks and will go until 37 weeks. I am currently 32 weeks :-)

Re: progestogine (dl?) shots?
I start mine on Thursday. No previous experience and I'm a little nervous but I'm hoping it works for me.

Re: progestogine (dl?) shots?
I haven't had my first appt yet with this pregnancy, but I had a consultation with an OB a couple of months ago and will be taking the shots this time, from about 16-34 weeks. Everything I've read says there's no harm in them and they could help, and I want to do everything I can to help with this pregnancy.

Re: progestogine (dl?) shots?
I get them. Starting week 16 through week 36. My second dd was a 28 weeker so every pregnancy after that I've had the shots. My #3, #4, and #5 have all been 39 weekers! I used to go to the doc office and they would give it to me but the last pregnancy and this time my DH does it. In my bottom. The only side effect I feel is extreme itchy-ness a few days after.

Re: progestogine (dl?) shots?
When I did my IVF, I had to do PIO shots once a night until 13wks.
Honestly, they hurt like h***. They hurt going in, the need was ginormous to me, and they left giant bruised welts in my rear end which made sitting down hurt. They were not fun. Worth it of course, but not fun.

Thanks Mamas since dd was only a 35 weeker, I decided to try the tea instead and hold off on the shots so far no contractions since starting the tea and off of dtd.
