Bottle refusal.

Anyone else's baby refuse every bottle. We've tried Born Free, Avent, tomme tippee, and Brest Flow. She makes a face whenever we give her one cries and pushes it out. We don't do pacifiers either. This is an issue for me since I planned. To go back to school this summer. Which bottle did you use with your picky babies.

My dd took a bottle Since birth (actually had to fight to get her to bf) then started refusing a paci around 3 mo then gave up on a bottle by 4 mo as well. Till then, I used playtex drop ins latex nipples and she liked em. She started crying and looking at me like I was stupid giving her a bottle after that. Around 6-7 mo I tried a few sippies but she wasn't crazy about em, and now she drinks from a straw or cup at 10 mo (and me of course)

Tommee tipper makes a trainer sippy that is worth a try for you..

We have always opted for straw cups when our kids couldn't have mommy. Straws are surprisingly similar to the muscles need for nursing, but can't result in nipple confusion, since its a different motion (despite same muscles). Depending on the number of hours you will be away, it may become a non-issue.

Re: Bottle refusal.

My son had the best success with the playtex nurser bottle, some babies are just really really stubborn about it.

oh this is very familiar! DS finally took medela bottles. Both my dds did not ever take a bottle and just nursed all night. At 5 mo DD1 started to take a sippy cup of pumped milk. Good luck mama!

Re: Bottle refusal.

How old is your wee one? My DS2 started rejecting bottles around 7-8 months, and by 10 months, flat out refused to take a sip of BM from any artificial container, although he practically has a sippy of water attached to his person at all times. So no help on what to do to entice baby to take a bottle. We ended up adding in some jarred foods, coconut milk yogurt, and oatmeal mixed with BM to his regular foods (we are doing baby led solids) just to get some calories in him while I am at work. If your wee one is old enough, foods and water might be an option for you.

The other thing I would check is to see if your milk has excess lipase. Milk with excess lipase will taste soapy/metallic after sitting for a bit. Scalding the milk after pumping inactivates the enzyme and keeps the funny taste from developing.
