Leaving for the weekend.. will my daughter forget how to nurse?

I know this seems like a totally ridiculous question but it's something I'm just a TINY bit worried about.

I'm leaving for a training Thursday and won't be back until LATE Monday night.

This is the first time I will be leaving my 4 month old daughter overnight and during the day with anyone other than her Daddy.

She takes bottles just fine from her Daddy and while I'm just a tiny bit worried that she won't take a bottle from her caregiver I guess she'll have to take it eventually and if worse comes to worse my husband will have to take a day off of work until I get home if she ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to eat from anyone but him.

But then when I get back I want to immediately start nursing her again (I will be pumping while I'm gone).

She won't want to not nurse will she?

She should! But might be cranky at first due to how incredibly lazy the bottle makes a nursing baby. Just take bottles away for awhile and u will be good to go!

Re: Leaving for the weekend.. will my daughter forget how to nurse?

i actually just posted about this in another thread. she'll be fine! due to a variety of medical and personal issues when ds was a baby i was forced to leave him several times for usually about a week, but sometimes up to 2, and once as long as 3 weeks it started when he was about 6 months, and was on and off until he was 11 months. he was fine for the time i was gone, and almost every time i returned i just sat down and nursed him and he latched right on and kept going. sometimes he would hesitate like he didn't know what to do, and i would squirt a little milk in his mouth and he would be like "oh right!" and latch on and go for it the only time i had trouble was when i was gone for the full 3 weeks, and he was almost 10 months old at that time. i think the length of time i was gone and the fact that he was older made the difference. it took me several days to coax him back to the breast that time, but your baby is young, and you'll only be gone a few days, i don't think you'll have a problem

Just make sure the bottles you use have slow or extra slow flow.

I had to leave DS last month for a work trip for 4 days and he was fine. He was actually eager to nurse (he's not fond of the bottle) as soon as he saw me.
