Vote: what should I use under wool covers Im making?

I'm getting back into CD'ing and want to have wool as my primary cover as we will be moving to FL soon. I'm having a hard time trying to determine what to put under it, as my little guy is an above average wetter during the day and at night can sometimes leak through two sposies a few nights a week... So I'm needing something absorbent, but hoping to find something not too bulky and don't want to break the bank. Wanting to do natural, soft fibers so Im leaning towards cotton. My DS is my first and I'm hoping to make whatever diapers we buy hold up well for him and future DS / DDs. I've found in my research that GMD's hold up well and wash well. With pinned prefolds, Im worried they won't be absorbent enough, but love the price tag. With fitteds, I would prefer their convenience, but they are pricey and I'm worried about elastic not holding up well. What's your vote?

1. GMD prefolds?
2. GMD WHs?
3. Something else?

How long have you had yours? Durability, as well as absorbency, are our two biggest musts for a diaper.

I didn't care for the workhorse on my little guy. He had banana crotch with them. I think the prefolds are trimmer.

Its where the crotch of the diaper kinda bunches between the legs.

Oh okay! How does the absorbency of GMD prefolds, when pinned or snappied, compare to WHs?

Thank you all for your input. DH and I decided to try 12x WH and 12x PFs from GMD to figure out what we prefer. Gong to buy a few Capti covers, Disana wool for over night and knit our own wool for day use.

Sounds like a great plan mama!
On absorbency, WH and pfs are the same in my opinion.
