Re: Marchkins 12-18

I'd rather have an suv than a van too but since this is only kiddo #2 we're not buying anything for a while yet.

I hope something is going on, I got 2 phone calls today asking if anything was...and asked a third time in another call - at least she had another reason to call me. Although I really want to go to that consignment sale on Thursday I think I'll take a baby instead.

Re: Marchkins 12-18

I have a van - bought it when DS1 wasn't quite 1 year yet... and I LOVE IT! I was so not a van person and I get made fun of by my friends all the time but guess who they call when they all want to go somewhere??? Yep! Me!

I've been a van mama since Jan 2005.... Just before our second child was born! I had an SUV before that, but I love the roominess of vans, especially since we have a big Chevy conversion van! I love being able to stand in the back! Unfortunately, if we have a 6th baby, we will have to get something else because it only seats 7 people!

In baby news.... I've decided to try pumping this evening to get the contractions a big stronger. Hope it works and we have a baby tomorrow!!!!

I hope it works for you, mama! I pumped this morning and it brought on some really good contractions just minutes apart. I really think it's what helped me go from 0 to 1cm dilated before this afternoon's appointment. I just took my first dose of laxatives at 6:45pm. At 10pm I'm taking my second dose, and a hot shower. Going to pump a little as well. The pumping is supposed to help more with dilation/effacement (which I really need), and the contractions just help get labor going better. Hoping both of these will work! I do NOT want to be 'officially' diagnosed with Pre-E on Thursday.

I hope your baby comes tonight or tomorrow for you!!

Re: Marchkins 12-18

I have a really dumb question. This is our first baby so I really don't know what things are supposed to feel like. I've been feeling more tightening of the stomach area, which I think are just Braxton Hicks. Is the difference between real contractions and braxton hicks just that real contractions come with pain?

We have a C-section scheduled for 3/23 so I really need baby to stay in till then....

So night one of dd1 in her big girl bed = fail. She is now peacefully sleeping in her crib. I wanted her moved so I wouldn't have to deal with newborn sleep deprivation and trying to move her but I don't see a way around it. I'm trying to find conversion rails for the new crib we bought and maybe if we get her used to sleeping in a non-crib she'll switch to her new room better...idk. Oh and picking her up to get her in and out of bed is killing me. I dropped her at nap time today on the mattress but still it scared her.

Re: Marchkins 12-18

*sigh* of course things CANNOT go my way just once!

DS1 had a high fever; took him to the doctor only to be scolded for not getting him his flu shot... it's viral... might be influenza since he didn't get the vax. His fever FINALLY broke this morning (poor baby!)

AND my cousin called me to tell me that my father is in the ER last night!!!! I'm a bit hurt he didn't call me but really he was trying not to stress me out anymore. He was having lots of trouble breathing and so he went in. They say his sodium levels are really high and his lungs are filling with fluid. So they kept him overnight in ICU! ICU! I'm so scared and can't go visit him until DH gets home (around 4:45) because of DS being sick - no one will watch him (except my mother who I am not allowed to tell about dad - messy divorce)

AND since all these things are happening in the last 24 hours, I'd start having some more regular (not so painful yet) contractions this morning!

Don't feel bad about your son! My best friend got her flu shot, and her kids all had the vaccine last season, but at least 2 out of the 3 got the flu last year anyway. Even if you had taken him to get his shot, he still might have gotten it. I hate how they guilt trip parents when the shot may not have prevented his fever. He'll be fine- just keep him hydrated

No baby- I didn't sleep very well last night because I kept waking up feeling like SOMETHING should be happening- my daughter was born the night of her due date. I totally am understanding how frustrating it is to go past your due date, and I'm only one day past it!!

More walking today and a few errands. I bounced on my ball for 3 hours yesterday, lol!

Re: Marchkins 12-18

((HUGS)) Sara! I hate the lack of sleep - it's the pits! I know it's good to get prepaired for no sleep when the newbie comes but it's just plain sucky!

In other news, because I'm up so early and just feeling plain old useless today I did the dishes! It doesn't sound like a big accomplishment but since we moved in here in August I've probably only done dishes maybe 5 times tops; I HATE dishes!

Re: Marchkins 12-18

PS - this is probably TMI but I keep having contractions and then after them I get a painful gas cramp... is that normal? Anyone have this before? I know it's a contraction because my belly gets hard and sometimes I actually pass gas but not each time... am i crazy??
