Sewing prefold into insert

I usually use pockets because when my daughter was first born, I hated the wetness of cotton against her skin. In the past week or do though I have been loving trifolding prefolds and putting them in covers. I keep thinking how much easier it would be if I could sew them into a trifold so I don't have to mess around every time I change her. Would this work? Is this a silly idea?

My only concern would be dry time and would it be harder for them to get clean.
