Oh man

I used bleach to get rid of ammonia and one of my good mamas has huge holes all the way through the fabric now and almost all my fitteds have little holes along the seams now

Still usable, but I am really bumbed.

That's a bummer! I use vinegar for ammonia, personally.

Re: Oh man

yeah bleach will no go near the diaper again.

They are trades so I am not devestaed I do not collect prints. But it upsets me to look at. It is like it thinned out the outer fabric.

Only one is really bad. I am not sure if the holes will just get bigger each wash. The seam ones are hardy noticable. But still totally usable.

How much did you use? We use bleach once or twice a month on Elementals and prefolds and none have holes. Did you wait until the washer was full of water before adding the bleach?

I used bleach about once and month and never had any issues. I put the bleach in while I filled the washer with water and then added the diapers. I don't remember how much I used though...maybe 1/2 cup?

Re: Oh man

Personally, I would rather use bleach and have super clean and risk having worn-looking diapers than not use bleach and have diapers that are full of ammonia build up. Sorry that it happened, but I'm guessing that it probably would have happened sooner or later even without bleach.
