Stripping without bleach or Dawn??
I bought some diapers off FSOT that the momma said didn't smell super clean. I got them and they smell like pee. I need to strip them but I dont have any bleach. I won't get any until Monday.
I'm leery to use dawn in my fl'er...any other options?? One of my friends suggested hanging them outside all night to let them really air out. Any other thoughts?? my iPhone tries to read my mind...and it's usually off

Re: Stripping without bleach or Dawn??
HOT water, a regular commercial detergent, and lots of rinsing. What are they made of? If natural fibers, you can boil them.

Re: Stripping without bleach or Dawn??
Do you have vinegar? Oxiclean? You can strip with one of those.

I'd just boil them in a pot with the dawn. Then rinse and put them through a quick wash, no detergent, in the washer to get all the soap out.

Re: Stripping without bleach or Dawn??
They're pocket dipes...guess I should have mentioned that.
![]() I have used vinegar but it hasn't seemed to help much in the past with my other diapers. I use oxyclean occasionally. Maybe I'll run them on the sanitary cycle. If they don't smell clean after that I will try a smidge of Dawn. Thanks ladies! I'll keep watching the thread in case someone else has another idea to add.

Re: Stripping without bleach or Dawn??
The first thing I do before "stripping" is a deep clean. I wash the diaper with the full reccomended amount of detergent (plus some bleach) because to me pee barn yard poo and musty smells means the diaper are not clean and stripping wont help they need to first be clean..
Then I run Hot water heavy duty cycles with nothing added till the intial hot WASH cycle is clear and let that cycle finish and dry.. About once every 3-4 months I strip my washer and run an empty hot cycle with 1 cup baking soda and 2 cups white vinager.. Deanna

Re: Stripping without bleach or Dawn??
Ive used dawn in my bathtub. I did a "load" of about 20 or so bg aio's in my tub once. It worked wonders. Dont think i ever had to do it again. Just get the water really hot, squirt in the dawn, let em soak, then you can squish em a lot to kind of "wash" them. Then wash em in your washer, do a couple extra rinses.

I have washed these once. Well...several washes but in one day. I washed with a full amount of AllF&C and oxy clean. Then I did 4 quick wash cycles. There were no more suds at that point.
I dried them on the line. They are not TERRIBLY stinky. I don't smell it until I'm changing him out of the wet diaper. I'm thinking there's probably some buildup that requires some bleaching to get out. Maybe I'll have to make my grocery trip tomorrow instead of Monday. my iPhone tries to read my mind...and it's usually off
