Crazy active 8.5 month old!!
Ok so, my 8.5mo boy is running me ragged! He just never slows down, all day! I have always nursed him to sleep at nap times and bed time, but now he even fights that! He has always been in very good health but has just got his first tooth and had a first vomity virus that he is getting over.... So it all seems magnified at the moment!!! But I guess what's hardest to deal with is that NOTHING seems to soothe him!!!! It's do frustrating, we've tried almost everything.... Massage, stroking his head and back, singing, rocking, ssshhhhhushing, bathing, showering, just laying on the bed with hin quietly.... But he doesnt want a bar of it! He just has to be on the go!
This would all be fine for the most part but when he is grumpy and tired and I KNOW he wants to sleep/rest he fights it!!! It's really pushing me and dh to the brink... It's hard to enjoy days off together cause our little boy tortures us so!!! :giggle Any advice would be WONDERFUL! mum to beautiful boy and loving cloth nappy-ing him! |

Ah, my almost 11 month wont slow down either...he'd rather crawl around and pull up on things and fuss at the same time! If I can get to him before hes overly tired and nurse him down, that's better. Otherwise, I have to wear him on my back in my beco. Have you tried a carrier? Ds2 is 21# so it's not easy, especially when he bulks and fights me, but as long as I keep moving he usually lulls to sleep.

I was going to suggest wearing him as well. When DS gets like this, and fights the nap, when he's super tired, I pop him in the Ergo, on my front, then I can nurse him while he falls asleep, or just snuggle him (My boy will be 1 April 2nd. and he's heavy, 25lbs, but my Ergo rocks)
If he's super cranky any just can't stop, take him outside, the fresh air is a miracle worker for cranky babes and stressed out parents. Momma, baby are exhausting!

Re: Crazy active 8.5 month old!!
As someone else suggested, I would try putting him down for a nap (nursing him down) before he gets too tired. After babies hit that tired point, they can get SO wired, and it's super hard to get them to calm down enough to fall asleep or stay asleep.
Also, have you heard about the 9-month sleep regression? It looks like your DS might be hitting it early. http://www.askmoxie.org/2009/03/a-re...gressions.html and http://moxie.blogs.com/askmoxie/2006...t_are_sle.html It's rough, but it's just for a period of time.
