Re: Do your diapers ever smell good.....

They should smell clean. The last time mine didn't, I changed my washing routine and they're fine now.

I found it helpful.

Have you sunned them? That always works for me.

Mine are funky at the moment, so I can tell you for sure that they usually don't smell. When they are stinky out of the dryer, I know that need to do something different- my usual remedy is to add more water to my wash, a little bleach and wash them an extra time. That usually clears them up nicely.

They smell fresh and clean. Kind of like fresh air if that makes sense. They don't smell like detergent or anything, just a pleasant, clean smell. We use Tide and do an extra rinse.

Mine usually do smell pleasant. I noticed they were smelling a little funky out of the dryer so I stripped them: hot cycle with a little dawn, hot rinse with a little vinegar and a few more warm rinses. Then they were smelling nice again.

Mine smell nice and clean. Pretty much smelled like nothing, just fresh and clean.

I did have a time where they had a funny smell. Not a pee, or poop smell, but more like a detergent residue smell. I stripped them with RLR and that took care of the smell. I only had this when using Allen's Naturally.

A few times when my DS had some really nasty poops I would smell them right out of the washer and if there was any hint of poop smell I washed the load again.

Re: Do your diapers ever smell good.....

You can try adding about 1/2 cup vinegar to the wash. You don't have to measure, just guesstimate. I use this all the time on diapers and to get the sweaty smell out of my husband's work clothes. Some bleach my help too, though you should make sure it's OK on your type of diapers. I use birdseye flats, which are cotton, and bleached htem every-other load. Bleach and vinegar are a powerful combo! And don't worry, the clean diapers won't smell like vinegar.

Re: Do your diapers ever smell good.....

Okay, so to clarify I guess what I meant was that they smell like nothing. I was having stink issues, and switched up my routine a little bit. I stripped them, then changed to this:

Pre-wash on cold with no detergent
Wash on hot with Tide and oxyclean
Extra rinse

I THINK I have hard water? Not sure though. Also, do I use oxyclean every time? The stink is gone, but like I Said...I think they just smell like nothing. I guess I am just used to laundry smelling good and fresh! hahaha. I am a total newbie, only been doing this for not even a month!
