More Sunshine Kids/Diono Radian controversy
There's a thread going on about it now if you care to read it
http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=217285 Basically, the rep from Diono is saying that the RF boot must be in the seat bight (crack) which means more upright installs are not allowed If you use the angle adjuster, it may or may not work. And, the Radian is essentially incompatible with many makes and models of vehicles (mine included of course ) if the feet can't be in the seat bight.

Re: More Sunshine Kids/Diono Radian controversy
Oh and with the angle adjuster, I wouldn't use it RF in my car, since if I did that, none of the base of the seat would be in contact with the vehicle seat.

Re: More Sunshine Kids/Diono Radian controversy
DH does our installs. He says that ours is ok even following these new rules. He does not believe that before we had the angle adjusters that it was actually installed correctly. So scary to think about.

Re: More Sunshine Kids/Diono Radian controversy
I have never felt comfortable with that trick anyway.
In my car, my Radian over-reclines in the center position without the angle adjuster. I solved it through forceful bracing against my front seats until I installed the adjuster. I realize that's not a solution for all cars due to advanced air bags, but it helps with some. I feel entirely comfortable with the angle adjuster. Not all car seats are compatible with all cars. |

Re: More Sunshine Kids/Diono Radian controversy
Yes, thanks, I'm well aware of that.
The issue is that their manuals are printed wrong, and vehicles that were comptabile with the Radians suddenly are not. And all over the internet (here and on the FB car seat group) it's THE most recommended seat. There are thousands of these things out there in vehicles that they are now incompatible in.

What the... *insert insanely hideous cuss words here*!!!!! This pisses me off beyond belief. Why is this just now coming out? I am pretty sure the AA makes the radian in my exes "incompatible" because it raises it out of the bite. And if I go cramming the boot into the bight of my car it will over recline big time. I'm done...I swear I could handle the LATCH thing but this is just too much.

Re: More Sunshine Kids/Diono Radian controversy
Hmm, interesting. I have been on and off considering buying a Radian for years now to keep DD1 RF longer (she is in a TF)... But after reading that thread I am glad I never did. Sounds like the company has some serious issues revolving around this seat and the products related to it!

Re: More Sunshine Kids/Diono Radian controversy
Sorry I am so carseat stupid, does this matter at all with a forward facing install? We need a narrow harnessed booster for the middle third row of our Sienna and are having a hard time finding one. The radian has been on the top of our list for the skinny factor.
