Go with Interlock, that way you can toss it in the washer. I keep some knit shorties for playing outside. Even if they get some dirt/grass whatever they are still working to keep him dry so I'll put him in those just outside or at the park for a few days before washing them.

We have designated outside play woolies, so they can continue to get dirty, and I dont worry about it too much. Just like having "play clothes". I also agree ^ that interlock seems to be really nice for outside play, it doesnt have crevases like knit does to hold onto crap. Or maybe even some superwash knitted? that way it can be tossed in the wash?

Re: how do youkeep your wool clean

We have one pair of woolies that we reserved for outside play. They are those chinese machine knit kind with the cute embroidery, only ok for daytime, I'm drawing a blank on the name. I'm assuming you arent interested in the technical details of how to clean the wool, as in with a bar of lanolized soap, etc.

Have 3 I can just toss in the machine because they are fully felted.

I have a few pieces of cheap wool and interlock soakers that I don't care much about and that's what I'll put my kid in when she wants to get dirty. All the expensive & nice stuff is reserved for other things. Maybe you could do something like that.

The simplest and most effective method of keeping all kids clothing clean is just not to let them wear it!
