5 more done today since I had absolutely NO energy to homeschool. All the kids here are on Easter break, so I'm telling myself a skipped day is no big deal. So I sat at the machine and watched the kids play instead of homeschooling. These are all flannel inner/outer with 3-4 layers terry sewn in soaker. One randomly has a full hidden inner flannel layer. I had cut these out previously and I'm glad to have them sewn up b/c I want to try a new pattern.

Re: Punkin Handmade Diaper Share Thread

After a horrible mama day, it was nice to end it with the best diaper success I've had yet. I won't be making any more DD. This is the Baa Baa Baby 2 size diaper and I'm in love with it. I had a tiny scrap of cute cowboy cookout flannel so I pieced this diaper to use it up.

This is the Small size

And here's the NB size. You fold the front tabs down to lower the rise.

The soaker is sewn in at the back only. Its two layers of terry. On the small size, you fold it in half, making 4 layers of terry soaker and on the NB size, I think you fold it in thirds, making SIX layers of terry soaker! And, its quick dry. LOVE!

SO CUTE! I love that cowboy pattern I forget - are yours all snappiable, or are you planning to use pins?

I'm planning on using the snappi. So far, I haven't had any issues using the snappi on flannel. Not that I've tested it on a baby. THe snappi works better with knit, but I think it works fine with the flannel, especially with practice.

Re: Punkin Handmade Diaper Share Thread

Okay I cleaned out a ton of clothes last week so that I could make room for maternity stuff in my closet, and I brought a ton of things to goodwill - which, by the way, felt amazing...nesting already?! Anyway, I have this really old pair of sweatpants that are super huge on me and have way too many holes to be able to wear them anymore, even for around the house. Can I somehow use them in making diapers? For inserts or something? They are 100% cotton. What should I do with them? I hate to throw anything away, but definitely they are too bad to give to the thrift store.

Eileen, I would think you could! I mean, basically you just need an absorbant layer slung in a waterproof cover. Goodness sakes, look at the G diaper. Its like a maxi pad in a waterproof hamock! I'm not the best to ask though. Maybe try the craft chat thread. I was thinking of using old sweats though too. I think they'd make a great absorbant layer. The mamas on the craft chat can get pretty particular with the materials they use. In fact, when I'm upcycling like that, its hard to get answers b/c most of them like to use fabric to where they KNOW how many ounces of liquid each fabric will hold! No joke. But if you're willing to wing it, I say go for it. That's kinda what I'm doing. I assume some may not be as absorbant as others but I don't have a tester so I'm just going for it. If its upcycled and free, no loss right?
