Re: For the momas with buildup/stink/ammonia/new 2 CD momas/or washing trouble.
Another hint that helps me. I used RNG, not commercial detergent. Add about 1 Tbsp to your first rinse load on cold and 2 Tbsp to the hot wash load. I had stink problems in the beginning and this solved it. I also use about 1/4 bleach in my hot load once a month.

Re: For the momas with buildup/stink/ammonia/new 2 CD momas/or washing trouble.
The combo of bleach and sanitary cycle did break down my diapers faster then it should have. But I do agree with Try a mainstream detergent, especially Tide, it does work. I dont agree with Sanitary Cycle and Bleach each and every time. I do advocate the use of bleach and sanitary cycle.. but Im learning that both every wash is a bit over kill for me, now. In my old house I had to do that every time or I ended with stink. But now Im able to skip both of those and use them for trouble shooting, which is nice.
My advice, try a gentler washing routine first, then bring out the big guns.

Like there was a rumor goin round that ammonia was more soluable in cold, I found some great published studies that found it was more soluable in hot. I just think it's great knowledge that should be shared. Yea, for sure. You don't need to do my wash routine, everyone will have their own. Every routine will be diff due to material of dipes, water type, machine type, how often you wash, how many dipes, how your babys urine and bm's are, water temp, and type of detergent, ect... There are a million things that factor in. You are very right I use a super heavy duity routine. It just works soooo well for our routine. Great advice. Please feel free to add advice on what trick works well for you!!

Re: For the momas with buildup/stink/ammonia/new 2 CD momas/or washing trouble.
I have pretty soft water so it will depend on the waters harndness. I have to use 1/2 way to line one or 1 pack of dropps for a reg/lrg load. I still get tons of bubbles in the main wash but it rinses out well. The tide has enzymes where as the dropps don't I believe. I like dropps too though. I alternate because I got the dropps on super clearance with coupons too!
I also love arm and hammer, all f&c, gain, tide, dropps. I'm sure there are other great detergents out there. These are just my favs.

I have been using one pack of dropps. Am I not using enough. We have pretty regular water here. I think at least. It just seemed that the water was cloudy and gray during the rinse. So I thought that ment it was enough.
