Cats?

Just wondering if anyone of an EC mindset happens to have a cat that uses the toilet instead of a litter box? Or even anyone who doesn't do EC... seems like something an EC'er would be interested in doing though, if they had a cat!

I don't, but I just got this mental image of pottying a cat over the toilet and it makes me giggle!

Haha thankfully they can get up there themselves... I might be afraid of them falling in though, but I know people have successfully taught their cats to use a toilet!

Re: Cats?

Haha! I tried doing this actually, but it was over 20 years ago so I can't remember what exactly happened. My cat started going on the toilet using a product like this but when all the litter was gone I believe he stopped using it. I'd consider trying it again if I ever get another cat. Better than having a box of poop in the kitchen!

Re: Cats?

I've got 3 cats and we never tried. But I used to work in a pet store and we sold the potty seat litterboxes and people always asked about them. Not sure if anyone ever reported success.

Re: Cats?

You're talking about me, except the cat likes the downstairs bathroom and the baby likes the upstairs. When I say "poop goes in the potty" I mean it!
Actually, I got a new toilet seat with a smaller seat attached to the lid (held by magnets) for DD, I've been wondering if the cat would like it as it would give him more area to stand on, but he hasn't tried it yet.

Re: Cats?

So interesting. At what age was the cat when you started the process? How was the cat's initial reaction? Did the cat not like it ever and go in easier places? Do you know any other people who have had success? Are there EC forums for cats?

Re: Cats?

Does any one know if you can train an older cat to do this? That would be awesome!
