weekly chat March 22-25

I sooo miss having a place for us to come and chat about daily stuff...sooo I thought I would start one up again for us...

QOTW: What is the most $$$ item you have bought during this pg?

A: for me it has been a new swing...I got rid of my swing during my yard sell...i never really liked it for the baby stage and dd2 never really used it as it was...sooo I sold it dirt cheap to a neighbor...then i decided that i wanted one for this baby and instead of going the cheap roue again i splurged...its the Graco Sweetpeace...you can take the seat off and put the infant carseat on it...i think that is soo neat!

AFM: The church ladies are throwing me a baby shower later tonight...i am sooo excited but kinda worried that since it is in the middle of the week that no one will come...I know several of DH's aunts wont be coming as they have stuff for their kids/grandkids and a couple of friends and family that were invited live out of town so i highly doubt that they come...oh well..DH and i talked about it and we would rather them be invited then to later find out we had a shower and that they weren't invited...i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings! but i feel soo thankful that the church ladies wanted to throw us a little shower and even if no one shows up that they were thinking about us!!

my sister called me earlier and offered to let me borrow a crib from her...she has one in the attic and said that I could borrow it since I really wouldn't need one for too long...i am excited about this..but also find it kinda funny since i had asked her about a crib awhile back...but then again I was wanting to buy one and she told me today that she didn't want to sell it but that i was more than welcome to borrow it...so yay for getting to use a crib and save alittle $$ there!!!

I need to make a Sam's club run and stock up on stuff for the house before the baby comes...yet have no getup and go to get ready and drive out of town to go...lol...i also want to go by hancock (sp?) fabric store to see what they might have...i haven't been in that store in years ( i usually go to hobby lobby) but the HF just moved and has a nice (huge) size store that i am just itching to go check out!

Re: weekly chat March 22-25

AQOTW: Besides birth kit and car seat, we slurged and got an Amby baby hammock for about $50. Got it cheap because we did a partial trade. I'll likely get a amber necklace from baltic creations in a few months... If DH is on salary then I may get a mama/baby set as I'll use DD's when I'm sick but it barely fits.

We've never had swing or other contraptions. My sis bought me an old wooden cradle for DD1 but it wasn't a smooth rock and used it all of once to take a picture! We have an Bjorn bouncy chair and that thing is SOOO worth the money. It's travels and washes super easy. It fits NB to toddler and while all my friends are on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th cheapo bouncy chair, DD used hers almost everyday for well over 2 years and it's still in excellent condition. So it's definitely worth spending the extra money on some items.

That's so kind of them to throw you a shower. I had told my small group in church when I was pregnant with DD for prayer reasons as it was really early in the pregnancy and I wasn't going to announce it yet. Well... They threw me a shower the next weekend, I was less than 2 months along. Felt so bad that some friends found out that way. But it's still feels good that people are going out of their way to do something special for you

I hate hancock fabrics They're so overpriced! The one near where I lived the workers were so unhelpful and I've yet to experience bad service at a JoAnn's. Plus JoAnn's always sends out good coupons.

We're also getting something... A glider! Very excited about that one. Bumped into a local mom yesterday and mentioned it and said she would lend me hers which is perfect because I don't like them all that much and plan to use it for a couple months anyways. She's not planning a pregnancy so I'd have a while before needing to give it back too.

Don't know if you all remember the mama's group weirdness where I'm at? I said that the town kept all the children underground Well the mom that's lending me the glider is one of the only moms that homeschool in town and she knows 4 other families that want to homeschool that all have 3 year old DD's (same as mine). I'm really looking forward to meeting them all next week at the park if weather is nice and I know DD will be sooo excited. Feel so bad that she doesn't have any friends as the moms here are too busy with piano lessons, dance classes, blah blah blah What happened to moms getting together and baking or making soups while the kids play? I did that without kids! Wish I had those kinds of friends around again.

Read in my mw's book that she doesn't deliver footlings and this LO has been kicking my pubic symphysis so I'm pretty sure it's a footling. Supposed to go to the chiro tomorrow for my first webster technique adjustment but DH may be leaving today and that means no car to get there. She has delivered footlings but the one that she gave details on was an oops it's a footling (u/s the day before showed head down). So I need to talk to her next appt if she will deliver footling with advanced knowledge.

QOTW: We splurged and got a new car seat for the baby. It's the Chicco Keyfit22, in black and gray. I love it! Fits so well in our car...can't wait to use it!

So tell me if you would be a little choked if this happened to you and am I way off base on this??
I bought 2 NIP Organic Cotton Imse Vimse Covers (medium) for DS. I offered her $20ppd for the 2. She came down to $23ppd from $24ppd and after I looked at them on the green mountain diapers site and saw that they were $18.95 each + tax and maybe shipping, I agreed. $11.50 isn't too bad for a brand new in package cover, right?! Well when they arrived, the price tag on the back was still on and it said $6.00, with a crossed off $15.95!! She got them on sale! And then charged me way more and then didn't even have the decency to take the price tag off!! I figure shipping would be about $5 or less for the two. Would you be a little ticked off? Would you say anything to this seller? Makes me mad!

Oh I'd be ticked and I'd say something. It sucks because you felt like you were getting a good deal and I'm not against selling something for a profit but leaving the tags on? Come on! I wouldn't mind so much if she said hey, these cost me $18 including shipping to me plus shipping to you and pp fees and you're still getting a good deal. If you're going to leave tags on, that situation should be explained. I've bought a new cover from a thrift store and sold it on here but left the tag on and sold it for what I paid plus fees & ship and it was still a good deal for someone else, ya know?

Re: weekly chat March 22-25

I'd say the priciest item this pregnancy was building the newborn diaper stash and the extra diapers we'll need for 2 in diapers (DS still refuses the potty). I haven't really bought that much otherwise. We got lucky too because I got the small portable swing we wanted from the baby shower the ladies at church threw me on Sunday.

AFM: Feeling nauseous today and having lots of back ache. I rubbed the area briefly and DD started to kick in protest so I guess she's really pushing back there. My stomach doesn't feel tight like it would if I were having BH or contractions. I'm sitting here with a heating pad hoping it will alleviate it, but it doesn't seem to be doing much. However, I do feel up to eating a little something light after eating some applesauce. I ate toast for breakfast and felt sick after. I hope this isn't the bug DS had on Sunday. I thought it already passed me because I was feeling a little sick the day after him and it was going away.

Re: weekly chat March 22-25

Infant carseat with an extra base - we got a Chicco Keyfit

Next most expensive thing - swing. We got rid of everything but clothes from DS1, and I wanted a swing with plug in ability and wasn't finding any second hand. However, I wished we had kept our old one. It was an older Graco model. Smaller, sturdier, hardier. These huge new swings they make just seem like they could be so easily broken and just not has hardy and dependable. Heck, I'm even wishing we had kept this really old crank swing my mom had at her house for DS. Crank it, and it swings. Awesome!

next is about $100 spent in cloth diapers.

officially on maternity leave. DS is trying to drive me batty right now. He's bored. I just got done doing more with my labor playlist. The rest is up to DH to put it on the mp3 player. I'm SO bad at this SAHM stuff and trying to keep DS mentally stimulated.

I'm going to try to clean out some closets, wash the walls, finish laundry... at some point motivate DS to willingly pick up his toys so it doesn't turn into a battle and screaming tantrum from him... and then think about supper. I haven't made supper all this week, and I think I probably should today since I have no excuse. Except... I have no idea what to make.

Re: weekly chat March 22-25

AOTW-The largest purchase has been diapers...I think its around 50 for my prefolds, covers and AI2s I have made. Nothing too bad. I have gotten a few larger items, but I didn't have to "pay" for them. I have been saving my swagbucks for Amazon cards and bought a new crib and monitor with extra camera. Just those purchases would have cost me well over $300, but I paid nothing for them! I am such a scrimper when it comes to spending money it's rediculous.

AFM- I have been so busy nesting around here (never had that with the other two) so I am so tired and sore all the time now. I have been having so many BH and am very crampy down there with lots of pressure the last couple weeks. Hopefully this means that there is progress being made. I have my 36 weeks appointment tomorrow. I love going in and hearing that little heart beat!

Re: weekly chat March 22-25

AOTW: The most expensive thing I bought was a Beco carrier for $90 - I also bought a Sleepy Wrap Other than a few odds and ends of things (like some used nb covers, snappis, and some used blanket sleepers), that's the only thing I've bought! DH just cashed in our loose change and got over $100 in Amazon gift cards for it, so I'm going to do a little shopping this weekend I might just buy DH a new pair of shoes, though... we'll see!

I had a couple of appointments yesterday. One with my midwife and the other was an ultrasound and visit with the maternal fetal specialist. Oddly enough, the midwife told me that I'll need to set an induction date pretty soon because of my high BP, but the actual doctor (the specialist) said everything is looking GREAT, so if it continues, we can just let everything happen naturally Either way, all of my appointments went well. Our little guy is on a perfect growth curve, and now we're just waiting for him to make his grand entrance!

We also finally toured the new hospital. It's really nice, but the rooms all smell like urine! So gross, but hopefully I won't notice while I'm giving birth! All of the nurses seemed really supportive of my desires and I have very few concerns at this point. The hospital even has full room service 24 hours a day. I got a menu, which is huge and has tons of great vegetarian options

My MIL was in town last weekend, and she helped us do all kinds of stuff that I wasn't able to do while on bed rest. I now have a clean fridge and clean/organized kitchen cabinets! We rearranged DS's room, organized his closet and the extra bedroom closet. She helped me wash/fold/put away all the baby stuff (clothes, linens, diapers) after she repainted an old dresser for the boys and the toy box. Oh, she also helped me reorganize all of DS's old clothes into bins so we know what is what as the baby grows. It really is amazing what this woman can accomplish in 2 days!!!

It's finally starting to feel really real that we're going to have a new baby in the house soon

Re: weekly chat March 22-25

AOTW: So far it's been the swing I bought from SIL. It's a graco with an open top and a plug, which is exactly what I wanted. I gave her $50 for it - I can probably sell it for that when I'm done with it. Close second was the beautiful ring sling I got from the auction for Harmony96. The biggest will be a crib, but mom's offered to get us one, so we'll see. DD's was 20 years old and recalled with all the drop sides that were recalled a while back, so since she was at a good age to transition, we put her in a poor man's toddler bed (read crib mattress on the floor ) and chucked the crib. Once she stopped rolling off the mattress we put her in a twin bed.

AFM: This cold is not only evil, but clingy. I forced myself out of bed to go over to moms and wait around for the cable guy to show up and set up my internet. To my utter shock, he was there in the first 10 minutes of my 3 hour window appointment, and was quick and efficient. My faith in contracts might be renewed.

And to my surprise DD2 has been very active today and I've had 3 random painful contractions, ones that wrapped around right to my back. They weren't timable, they happened well far apart, but caught me completely by surprise. They're way different from anything I've had before, the pain was right in the back, I actually had to feel my belly to be sure it was a contraction.

Re: weekly chat March 22-25

I bought diapers! Only spent about $150 total. We have everything else - car seat, swing, crib etc so I haven't had to buy much.

So yesterday when I picked the kids up from the babysitter I slipped and fell down her ramp outside. It was raining and I had flip flops on - not a good combination lol. I scraped up the inside of my leg pretty bad and really hurt my pelvic bone, I can't lift my legs at all. Sleeping last night was near impossible oh my gosh. I hurt so bad. I guess I should be a bit more careful
