Not fully, no, but I'd love to go part time/ PRN. I love being a nurse, but I'd be happy to do it a couple times a week and be home with the kids.

Re: If you could quit, would you?

Even though I like my job for the most part, I would quit and do something I'm more passionate about if I could. Volunteer work or something. But being a full time SAHM? No.

I know so many wonderful women that love being SAHMs but it's just not for me.

Yes. When we pay off debt I will be a SAHM. I do have a little craft business I do, so I would still keep that up.

Re: If you could quit, would you?

In a heartbeat. DH and I have discussed this before. If he made more, I would stay home with the kids until they were all in school and then return part time and eventually work up to full time as they become more independent. My job is not that rewarding... I went to school to get a job to pay bills. I am a civil/structural designer for a smaller engineering firm and finding a work/home balance is difficult. All of the guys I work with have wives who stay home with their kids. They don't see that when I need to stay home for a sick LO that it is because I don't have someone AT home with them all the time. My parents watch DD, but I am the one who needs to be there when they are sick or have appointments and if I'm sick, or currently have tons of appts due to being pregnant people look at me like I have two heads any time I need time off.

I feel so guilty not being the one here with her all day, and returning to work after my year of maternity leave was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Now I get to do it all over again. CRY! If I had a job I loved more, then I could see sacrificing a little in both aspects of my life but at this point work seems like it has to be all or nothing.

i love my job, but when i was on maternity leave they hired a new chick and since ive been back, its been an everyday battle [ and about two breakdowns a month ] not to quit. shes one of those chicks that are always out to prove herself and needs constant approval from our boss! blach!!!!

Re: If you could quit, would you?

There was a long time during which I would have said absolutely NOT. I loved my job for a long time and found it really rewarding. I used to think that I was a better parent because I worked FT, but that changed for me in the past few years and when DS2 was born in December I began to seriously consider becoming a FT SAHM. It was a really hard decision for me, but 6 months later, I am so glad that I quit. There are times when I choke when I remember how much money we used to make, but we've cut back on a lot of things and I am really, really enjoying my kids right now.

Nope! I'm an OT and love my career. I work PRN so that I'm home lots now, but still have the satisfaction of working my dream job and doing something fulfilling outside the home.

Re: If you could quit, would you?

I decided to quit my awesome job that I worked really hard towards to stay at home with my son because I knew the amount of time I could spend with him and his development was so much more worth the money
