Re: If you could quit, would you?
No, but I only work 10-15 hours a week while my kids are already in school and I don't work for the money, nice as it is. In fact, I'm always trying to get more hours because I love working where I do. I don't do anything fancy or personally rewarding; just front desk/admin stuff at a gymnastics center. It's easy and it's fun.
I've tried working when my kids were younger and it was so hard for me to balance work and home that I ended up quitting. I feel fortunate to have that choice.

Re: If you could quit, would you?
Nope.
I work as a dog groomer/assistant. I love my job! Now... I'd certainly ask to cut back hours though by just a couple a day. ![]() I not cut out for being a SAHM. I can't do enough to keep DS occupied and mentally stimulated. He's better off in daycare/preschool, and I'm better off working!

Re: If you could quit, would you?
Absolutely! I dream of the day that I can slap my badge down on the desk of my boss - preferably in the presence of the department despot - and tell her that I'm not going to subject myself to one more day of their childish bullying.

Nope! I work part time and really enjoy my job. It's brought a good balance to DS and I relationship as well; I just went back to work a few weeks ago. I might want to stay home one more day though to have more free time to do activities with DS. But working had been positive for both of us.

Nope! I would, however, maybe just work half time...

Re: If you could quit, would you?
Yes. In an instant. With a big F U texted to the principal.
I am a middle school teacher. I am seriously over middle school kids. But nothing else is going to pay me this much without me going back to school.

Re: If you could quit, would you?
Surprisingly this is the boat in which I find myself. I worked full time this past fall/winter for the former family buisness as a taxi dispatcher, and DH just got himself a massive promotion and raise. Now I finished out so I could go on federal mat leave, but I find myself debating as to if I will go back next year when mat leave is up. My income will be pretty incidental - it was incedental before this raise. It helped us over the hump to get debt free and get into a good spot for an emergency fund and through his seasonal layoff (golf course superintendant). But his seasonal lay off is about to get much shorter, we'll have the emergency fund, and be saving our down payment for the house.
I think what I'm leaning towards is going back part time. 5 shifts a week, particularly when they're all afternoons or weekends was too much - I felt like I was never home, could never get anything done, never got out to see anyone. I did however like getting out of the house once in a while and having my own income, even if we don't separate our finances - I'll use the money that I'm making to save up for a couple of years to go back to school, and then when my youngest starts junior kindergarten I'll take some classes and recertify. I'm technically trained as a computer technician and network specialist, but my stupid younger self was so burnt out and broke by the end that I didn't get the certifications. If I could get those, I could get a much better paying job.

Re: If you could quit, would you?
Absolutely not. I don't have to work now, I choose to. I'm a better mom when I'm working, and am actually more productive in my time spent with our children. It keeps us organized and efficient. I work in Law Enforcement w/ K9 Narcotics Investigations and Fugitive Tracking. I love SWAT and my big gun, and fast paced, high adrenaline job with them, too.

Re: If you could quit, would you?
No. I would cut back my hours to about 20 a week, though and stay home with any new babes until they are 18 months. I'd use the extra money to hire a cleaner so that I could be present with my kids the hours I am home rather than spending so much of my time cleaning.
I love my job as a child and adolescent mental health therapist and am a much better mom when I have a break from the house.
