Re: If you could quit, would you?
I'm a pharmacist and would quit in a heartbeat if I could. I always thought I was more of a career oriented person, but after having kids it turns out I'd rather be home after all. I might take some classes part time and get a degree in pharmacoeconomics or just get a part-time position at a bakery or volunteer at the humane society or the zoo sometimes because I would love to do that and it would give me some "me time", but I would mostly rather just stay home.

I would quit immediately. And take a few months completely off then go back to school so I can do what I really want. And then goback to work after school is done

Re: If you could quit, would you?
Yes.
I'm on mat-leave right now and absolutely dreading going back to work in the fall It seriously causes me a fair deal of destress to think about it.It might by different if i had any amount of passion for the job i'm returning too...but no. I love the people but it isn't fufilling to me. Evengoing back part-time would be better. I just don't know how I'm going to work 40hrs a week, keep up housework/wifey duties and feel like I'm being a good mom. I do want to work once my kid(s) are in school, but before then I want to be the one raising them. I hate the idea of somone else raising my child. We're hoping that by the time we try for #2 that I will be able to work from home and help run our electrical business (if all works out). Last edited by Urchin; 03-27-2012 at 11:33 AM. |

Re: If you could quit, would you?
I probably wouldn't. I'd happily go half-time, but I don't think I could just stop working. I teach gifted elementary aged children and love what I do.
Now if the tables were turned and I got the big, fat raise (yeah, right!), DH would stay home in a heartbeat. He hates the bureacracy at his job and would be a perfect SAHD. |

Re: If you could quit, would you?
I'd jump down to part time, I think. I would love to spend more time with DS but I would crave being challenged in the work field and adult interaction. My son is an only challenge and I've spent many years coddling him. He's finally becoming independent and I think me staying at home full time would set him back a bit.

Re: If you could quit, would you?
I would quit my current job, but would take it as an opportunity to look for something I really love to do. Ideally something that was part-time, flexible, etc, etc. It's a dream, right?

Re: If you could quit, would you?
I would do it in a heartbeat. Though it would probably be hard emotionally for me to let go. I am a teacher, and I love those kids too, just not as much as my own.
