Re: 4+ C-section, Christian Mamas Here?

Yeah we see Dr. Kozin the NICU P.T. where was born told us that he was the guy to see, so we didn't even look anywhere else, since we are an hour away from Philly. Gabe had botox at 5 months old, DH was telling me in the waiting that he thought he should get a V, we found out two weeks later that I was pregnant. We had 3 in diapers, too, when #4 was born. The recovery is a pain, I had issues because I picked up #3 10 days pp and my incision separated. A bit of encouragement though, I was talking with a friend about having a c/s, and she said her sister had just had her 4th c/s and the 3rd knocked her on her butt, but the 4th was a breeze. My whole pregnancy I said I was done, and was going to get a tubal, well a few weeks before she was born I decided I wasn't comfortable getting it done, so DH offered to have a V whenever we both decided we were ready, but now I'm pretty sure that we are going to have a fifth if the Lord so chooses to bless us. DH says that 5 is it... but he said that about 3 and 4... so I imagine we will reevaluate as necessary and we are always in prayer about it.

And he's worked on a uterine rupture (not his patient, but he scrubbed in as all hands are needed on deck at that point). Thank God you are alive, mama! i have 5 kids 2 vag & 3 c-sections. i spoke to many specialist about a possible 6th child & what u wrote here is what they said could happen. they all has seen it happen many times & strongly advised me to have no more after my 3rd c-section. so after speacking to them & alot of praying. we feel that it was Gods way of saying r family is complete. (were open to life & would of loved more)

Both centers are great. I know they make referrals back and forth to each other if people want second opinions. I asked cause I saw you were from PA. BPI's are such a journey! Yep, your dh's remark was very much in the heat of a stressful situation! Even after 2 surgeries with my oldest, my dh was fine with more kids. It wasn't until we added a pediatric chiropractor and gymnastics on top of aquatic therapy and occupational therapy; that he is feeling he'd like to stop at our 4 kids. Insurance does not cover the first two things (though gym is recommended for obpi's for strengthening) and so it's out of pocket (and we have our 2nd son in gym too, to be fair). He's seeing the expense side lately, which I can sympathize with. And yet, the $ is not the big hurdle on my side! haha. Decisions, decisions... You'll have to let me know if a #5 decision is reached on your end!

And thanks for the comment about your friend. I hope that would be me, if we decide to go for a 5th!

I think God blesses us with children and if that's in your plan, then so be it. However, he also gives us wisdom. If we KNOW that it won't be safe, then don't do it.
I say keep praying and listen carefully! You'll find your answer.

I do believe that God is sovereign, and he does allow things in our life to influence the decisions that we make, but I think that what ever decision that you make will be the right one. Anything can happen, perfectly healthy people with healthy pregnancies can have poor outcomes, and very high risk pregnancies can have great outcomes and everything in between.

Re: 4+ C-section, Christian Mamas Here?

I have 7 children, 6 c/s (one set of twins). Each time I deliver I ask my Dr. to really check out the scar tissue and let me know his opinion of whether or not it is safe to have more children. For me, each c/s has gotten easier, I have gone home in less than 48 hours. But it really is different for each individual. You need to talk to your Dr., your spouse and of course God.

Good luck!

Re: 4+ C-section, Christian Mamas Here?

I don't have a lot of time to write right now, but I've had 7 c-sections and the Dr. gave me the go ahead to try again!!!! The Lord has truly blessed me more than I ever imagined! I lost my 1st child after an emergency c-section (to try to save his life) at 25 weeks. Due to a classical incision, I could never deliver naturally.

I am a great healer and give the Lord all the praise for me being able to continue having babies, although I am 43 and not quite sure HOW many more I'd be able to have!!

If anyone would like to talk more, I am not here very often, but I'm always available through email at troybridget@yahoo.com

I also have my 7th c-section on youtube if ya wanna view it! ]

God bless!!!

Re: 4+ C-section, Christian Mamas Here?

Thought I would jump in. I have had 4 c/s, and they have progressively gotten worse. I had a uterine rupture with #3 at 26 weeks and it changed my whole life. I was trying for a vbac, but God had other plans. I spontaneously ruptured before I could even get to third trimester. I got pregnant again and even while pregnant and knowing the risks dreamed about a 5th baby. I made it to full term and had the worst section ever. I had a hysterectomy after 4 hours of repair. My baby was fine and I am so blessed to have her but really I risked my life for her. All the drs told me to not have any more after my 3rd but my desire to have more was greater. While I would NEVER go back and not have her- I had very guilty feelings in the beginning about what I put my family through. My poor husband and mother on their knees praying that God would keep me here with them is more than I can bear sometimes. I am at peace now that God made this permanent decision for my family. It is not the end of our family journey but the beginning. We are committed to adopting and opening our hearts to the thousands of children without homes. I plan on having more but they will grow in my heart.

Multiple c-sections bring great risk and long term affects. I think the desire to have more children will always be there and we have to be sure it does not cloud good judgment. Every woman is different so I highly reccomend as an RN and a mom of multiple c/s to really trust your Dr and his opinion.

I had 4 c-sections as well and my last one ended in a hysterectomy as a result of placenta increta. I agree that it's important to trust your doctor, but SO many doctors are ill informed about the risks of placenta accreta, increta and percreta. These conditions were rarely seen even 20 years ago and are on the rise due to the startling increase in the number of c-sections and the drop in VBACs. I am Christian and we prayed a lot about having our 4th child and felt it was the right thing for us, even though we were informed about the possibility of accreta. However, I won't lie and tell you that it wasn't scary knowing there was a 10% chance I wouldn't make it out of the delivery. NO doctor can predict whether you might develop accreta and no doctor can predict how it will impact your delivery. It's a crap shoot based on where the placenta decides to implant. If it implants low across your scar, which it is more likely after 3+ c-sections, then the risk skyrockets. I was very, very blessed that I had very little bleeding and my only complication was bladder resection. The rate of morbidity from a c-hyst is very high.

Re: 4+ C-section, Christian Mamas Here?

yes- Daniele mobidity is very high with c-hyst- which is why with baby #3 they kept my uterus in. When you are already bleeding, cutting the vessels is too much a risk. I also had a bladder resection with my last as they knicked my bladder. They did that after the cystoscopy. I had 8 blood transfusions, just to keep up my HGB. The statistics are not as accurate any more as the increase in sections is so high. I can't wait to see more Drs pushing for the "right" way to birth.
