Please tell me about borax and diaper laundry

Dos and donts... How to wash using it for hard water? Use it with every load? Safe on polyester fleece, organic cottons, hemp? We have hard water at the cabin we are renting for the next few months and I'm getting smart on it just in case I need to use it.

I was using it with every load, clothing too but then found washing soda is cheaper and works the same for me.

It will not hurt any fabric. But it only boast's detergent. Are you looking for Calgon? For water softening?

I started using it and it has really helped! I do a soak with it and then add some to my regular cycle for diapers.

I've read not to use it on hemp because it can be hard to rinse clean from it and can cause a rash. The only hemp i have is our doublers for night, all the rest is 100% cotton and organic cotton. I was hoping to see if mommies who use it can confirm or deny this. I'm not sure if our water is hard enough to add Calgon. I think we have hard water just based on how my hair feels / doesn't feel after I rinse the conditioner out. I haven't done a load of diapers yet and I'm hoping to not have to strip them because of water stinky issues. So I'm wondering if I should start using Borax or Charlie's Hard Water Booster from the beginning to prevent it.

Re: Please tell me about borax and diaper laundry

I was able to check my city's website for a water quality report to find the hardness in mg/L.

This chart indicates how hard it is:
Soft 060
Moderately hard 61120
Hard 121180
Very hard ≥ 181

I emailed Taylor at Charlie's soap as my water is in the very hard category and I would like to try the booster. He was very helpful and gave me a lot of info about washing and hard water so it may be worth a try to call or email.
