He's a Graphic Designer right now and is just burnt out. He doesn't like the jobs his employer takes on, or the clients really. He gets a lot of side work so he wants to open his own design business. Which would have been a lot better BEFORE we bought a home. We do really desire to move back to the coast. We really miss Northern Cali. But I think he would do better business wise here in a big city. He also just wants to scrap the whole career and go with his passion for music.... Ugh. =( Thanks for being an ear for me!

Come on Vanessa! We want to hear you are okay!

Re: Aug. '11 - April Chat

Thanks for your concerns mamas! We are well, no storms here. We were just crazy busy with family in town for the wknd. Yesterday we put together the kids swingset. I know to the west of us storms did some damage, but nothing here.

Ugh, having a horrible period this go round. No bc used here but probably should. going to be 38 in a few months, not sure I could deal with another pg. (though I'd love another baby).

Amy- hugs mama.

Congrats on the new(dd) pg Stacey!

Hallie- yay for planting! We got a blueberry plant this year too! and two different grapes.

Evan is eating table food like a champ. He loves everything. I rarely give him baby food now. Still nursing a lot though.

What size are your babies wearing? Evan is 7.5 m's and wearing 12m's.

Amy, it sounds like your husband is a really artistic person. I think it's great that he wants to open his own business, would probably be quite the sense of accomplishment not to mention the freedom of his own schedule (once it was developed). On the flip, I totally get the frustration that could cause.....the lack of a steady and reliable income maybe, the unknown. Could he work on developing his own company for a while and keep the job he has until it's on it's feet? I hope he figured it out. Life's too short to not enjoy what you do.

Vanessa, SUPER glad to know your safe and you were having family time. nasty weekend we had wasn't it?

Dd is 8 months today and she is growing out of the 6-9/9 month stuff in length. Se has several 12 month things and some 12-18 sleepers that fit well. She is an amazon girl.

Can we talk about sleep habits? Ours SUCK. Harper is still a sporadic napper (in the swing only) and nighttime is unpredictable. She may sleep for 5 hours and he may wake up every other. Either way if she wakes- she is crying. No whimper and back to sleep here. I have to nurse her or it escalates. Most nights I end up just bringing her into bed with me so we can both sleep but then she's one boob or the other all night (be it suckling or cuddling). I'm exhausted! I want her to have better habits and I like a more table schedule but I'm not open to CIO this young. What is your baby doing about nighttime sleep? Any advice?

Eta: I just realized I left several letters off words, sometimes resulting in the use of 'he' instead of 'she'. Don't mind me. I'm sitting in a dark bedroom without my glasses on, nursing a half awake baby.

Amy--Sorry for the stress. I have a dh that isn't artistic but is considered a genius (funny bc he still can't find the garbage can--he needs to be re-tested) and he has an extremely hard time working for others. We keep changing jobs and moving and blah blah blah! So I know how you feel and I am sorry for your stress.

Brttanney--That is almost exactly Peytons sleep habits minus the swing. And I am EXHAUSTED! Yet every once in awhile she sleeps all night

Peanut is having a rough week here. Saturday she broke out in a blochy raised rash. Two doses of benadryl and it was gone, in its place is now a fine rash. Looks kind of like heat rash. Then last night her bottom went from zero to cherry red, hot to touch and bleeding in one poop. She has been just miserable, grouchy, not wanting to eat, etc such a sad pants.

Thanks Ladies. and Vanessa I'm so glad you and yours are safe.

Casper is in 18 month clothes. The shirts are a little big, but pants and sleepers don't fit around his chunky thighs in smaller sizes. And his sleeping sucks too! He wakes up all the time. Hubby blames it on the binky and says it has to go. I want to wait until the top teeth break through because I would rather him bite the binky instead of me.

I have been lucky with Micah, he sleeps great! One nap in morning and one in afternoon, then all night. Sorry mommas who dont have it so easy! Hope you can get thru till they sleep better. I use a music lightup player in his crib and a fan for white noise. I nurse him and then place him in his crib while he is half asleep..seems to work. I lightly wrap him in a muslin blankie then pull over a bigger blankie if its cold.

Micah is wearing 18 mos also. Gotta dig out some more clothes from malachi

Wow sounds bad! Does she have food/milk allergies?

Re: Aug. '11 - April Chat

Bummers that a lot of us are dealing with poor sleep habits. I know Evan will power nap most days for 15-30 min several times a day or sometimes no power naps with a long nap now and then. He normally will p/n around 7 ish and then nurse + go down for the night around 9 or 10. He's getting into a bad habit of waking up in the early am and I also bring him into bed to nurse. (and yes, he too has to have a boob in his mouth most of the time. but i try to sneek the binky in there )

sblakely- we are always dealing with butt/ diaper rash it seems! I rotate what I use on him, but normally I use coconut oil with TTO, or lanolin, or butt paste. I use all cotton dipes so it doesn't seem to bother them, idk about other dipes.
