It made me sad too. David is such a great kid, he can't help that his mom had it and passed it to him, I think that's what happened. It's so sad how ignorance can make people so cruel.

Yeah, that was super sad. And I honestly think it was all done on the show pretty honestly... both in good ways and in bad. I do think some parents really would act like that. And I think it was very realistic that Joan and Roland would want to just keep their son home to protect him from all the nastiness coming from the other parents and kids.

I will say that I think I would utterly panic if that had happened to my son. It would be terrifying, even hearing that the odds are in your favor. I just hope that I'd also have the presence of mind to realize it is not the other kid's fault! And that screaming at people isn't going to change things. We can't just shun everyone with HIV or AIDS from our society and treat them like crap.

I like that they turned it around and talked about what their own son has to go through every day, and how he's much more at risk to get very very sick from the other kids, even from a simple cold.

Very sad and shows the ignorance of others. We should teach our children to never come in contact with ANYONE'S blood, not just those who have HIV. The Burton's were better than me.

I saw it and yeah, it was sad how he was treated. Reminded me of how this was the reality for many kids back when the whole AIDS thing started. You'd think we'd come a long way from this in almost 30 years but we haven't.
