Ditto this. Babies are all over the place regardless of which chart is used.

Re: Big Baby Concerns

I am so glad for this thread. My dd is 6 weeks right now and she is growing like a demon. I don't know how much she weighs right *now*. Her next weight check isn't until the 20th. At her 4 week, though, she was 10lbs (7 at birth). She skipped straight from x-small diapers to medium and she's wearing 3 mos clothes. I have a fast flow and she's a little chugger so I was worried I was brewing a fat baby. Now i can relax a little, thanks!

I just had to comment because my 5 month old ds is Levi. He was also 9 lbs 6 oz at birth. He weighs 17 lbs right now at 5 months. : ) too funny!

Re: Big Baby Concerns

My first lost to 6 pounds 5 ozs at 4 days old, then by her 3.5 week checkup she was 9.5 pounds. She was WAY off of the growth charts at 6 months...actually every month. She's 39 pounds now at 26 months old, and she wears 4T clothing. She was EBF until 7 months, and doesn't eat more than other kids, and gets very healthy, nutritous foods to eat....but she's still ginormous! She's very healthy, though.
The newbie was 6 14 at 1 day old, and 7 14 at one week. He seems to be gaining about a pound a week. I have even more milk this time than last time...so no telling what is going to happen!

eta- when my first was nursing I was working, and she didn't like bottles, so I nursed her at lunchtime. But she would go 3 and 4 hours during the day with no nursing. It did not slow down her growth at all; she must have compensated by nursing more at night.

Re: Big Baby Concerns

I definitely agree with everyone else. I don't think being overweight becomes an issue in children until around age 3. Some mamas just don't have any problems!! I wouldn't change anything!

Yep, dont worry! My DD was 7lb2oz at birth and hit 20lbs at 7mo and is only 21 lbs now (30" long) at 11mo. She finally decided to crawl at 10 months, hehehe!

She isn't a huge baby by any means but she's been top of the charts since 4wks and her ped is not concerned in the least- she jokes that I make milkshakes instead of milk, LOL.
