Name That Rash!
Ds has sensitive skin- he usually has bumps on his body somewhere. But yesterday & more so today I have noticed a patch of bumps on his shoulders- more on his right shoulder blade area.
I dont think this is eczema but maybe a reaction to some vaccine shots he had in his upper arms on Monday. He had 2 shots one in each arm- the PCV & Hib. Not sure which was where. But do u think this is a reaction to the shots? Have you seen this before? Should I call the pediatrician? ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

The PCv shot did that to me, but it spread over 3/4s of my body and was agonizing for two weeks. The Dr probably wont do anything, but I'd definitely give him tylenol for pain and ice to help swelling.

I do think it was the shot & I will be calling the doc in the am, but thankfully it doesn't seem to be bothering him.

Re: Name That Rash!
is it anywhere else on his body? Could have picked up something at the Pedi's office or elsewhere recently?

Couldn't be chicken pox could it?? My nursing student friend suggested that it looks like the early stages of chicken pox. I'm pretty sure he had the first dose of the vaccine at 12 mo. (he is 15 mo now) and he hasn't come in contact with chicken pox that I know of- although we went to Gymboree on Wednesday. But no one seemed sick... And he's not feverish or acting abnormal.

After no improvement overnight I took ds to the pedi & was basically told it was nothing. Doc didn't think it was a reaction to the shots but more likely a mild virus. Idk I kinda think it is a reaction to the shots & not a virus because it isn't all over his body, just on his upper arms & upper back. Doc also said if it was a reaction to the shots it wouldn't warrant not getting the next round of vaccines.
Doc also said no special treatment is necessary just to keep the area moisturized. So I spent and hour at the ped. Paid $35 copayment & woke ds up from his nap for nothing. Great. Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

Just had a thought that maybe it was the band aid? I took them off when we got home, but at bath time it was red where the band aids had been. I have reactions to band aids when I keep them on too long- but not that bad.
Do you think it could be a latex allergy? Or a reaction to the glue from the band aid?? Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

I've also heard that sometimes a child will not have a reaction to a vaccine until they've had a few doses of it, but I don't have any experience with that.
