Just lost 10 yrs off my life...

Left the 3 littles last night to take my oldest to the movies. Had my neighbor/bestie watching them the first 2 hrs, then she was supposed to meet my cousin at our house so cousin could take over from there.
Got a text in the middle of the movie from my cousin that said
"Soooooo. Don't be alarmed, but I got here and June was here all by herself. Don't know where the others are". Well, if there is ever a fire in the movie theater, I now know for sure I can move fast enough to get the h3ll out in time!
Turns out my friend took her eyes off June (2.5 yrs old) for a minute to grab something in the house and when she came back out, June was gone and her brothers did not see which way she went. Friend was searching frantically. Meanwhile, June had crossed the street, walked the 2 houses down to home, let herself in, then locked the door behind her. Which is when Cousin showed up, told June to unlock and door and let her in (which she did), figured out that June was all alone and went outside to look for Bestie and the boys.
My friend was so upset about her mistake and June's disappearance (obviously!).
If this child makes it to adulthood, we are throwing a BIG party.
And here is the little stinker herself...

That is so something my 2.5th would do...well, he'd go through the house and let himself into the backyard to ride his Batmobile, lol. So glad your baby was safe!!

I had just given him a bath...took him outta the tub, went to pick out some clothes, came out to the livingroom and he was GONE!!! Door wide open ...I run outside and here's my boy running naked 2+ blocks away ....in the middle of the city!!!!

I love the "don't be alarmed" part of her text. Your little girl sure has a devilish grin!

I wouldn't be upset at the neighbor either, but I do have to giggle at how smart your daughter is for not only opening the door but knowing to lock it after she got in the house. Maybe your kid will just be the one with a lot of common sense. I'm glad she's safe.

Re: Just lost 10 yrs off my life...

Oh yeah my neighbor felt terrible. I told her hey $hit happens and I know how crafty this child is.
We also walk back and forth to her house a lot, and I always make June stop and look for cars 2x before we cross jic something like this ever happens- in hopes that she will at least pause at the road and not get squished! Luckily it is a really quiet neighborhood with few cars.
My neighbor told me "Sara, I will never say another word to you when you tell me about June getting into stuff..." She is quicker than any of my other kids, and independant as we. She has made me eat so many of my "My kids will never..." words.
