UPDATE in OP: I need a hug
I WANT a VBA2C; my hospital is not equipped for the worst case scenario associated with this. So I made an appointment with an OB at the next center that could accommodate an emergency and he won't do it. Not to be discouraged DH and I decided that I would go to our hometown (6 hrs away) a month before my due date so that a VBA2C would be possible. I can't find an OB that will take me, they all say it's too risky. I'm not comfortable with a HB because we are 40 mins from our local hospital that isn't equipped for emergencies and a good 2-2:30 hours from the closest "major" hospital. So while I know I have to come to terms with a planned section, I'm heartbroken. I just keep trying to remember that the outcome is whats important....but today that's difficult.
UPDATE: My incredible doctor just called me to let me know that he found me an OB that would do my VBA2C I am beyond excited and relieved; not to mention super grateful that he continued to advocate for me when I had pretty much given up hope!UPDATE #2 : I had my OB app yesterday, she was fantastic, but not really encouraging. She has agreed to take me on as a patient and let me try, but she told me I wasn't the BEST candidate. She did say that I wasn't the worst either.... I was so disappointed yesterday, but today I'm excited again; darn pregnancy hormones. DH and I talked about it and went over all the risks/benefits, and we're going to give it a try. It's funny because you'd think that when you got something you were fighting for it would be immediate elation, but I was, I don't know, scared? Please send positive laboring thoughts my way mama's, and thank you all for your support up until this point!

So sorry and I understand doctors are crazy when it comes to vbac's but what exactly aren't they equipped to handle? Uterine ruptures can happen to first time moms with no prior surgeries, so if they have an OR and a maternity ward they are equipped. I do know some hospitals don't have maternity or OB's but if this is a regular maternity hospital they should have all the equipment/personnel that they need.

Re: I need a hug
I am sorry you are feeling so disappointed today. I too would keep looking into it and keep fighting. I agree with the pp that any maternity hospital should be equipped to deal with an emergency at any time. But convincing an OB will I'm sure be difficult. ![]() --- edit: We were posting at the same time. Those sound like crazy small hospitals!

I live in the city so our maternity wards are like 50 rooms, 10 ORs, tons of docs on staff, etc. I know there is trouble getting doctors to agree to vbac's but the risks of them are there for first time moms too (just slightly greater) so it doesn't make sense that if any baby can be delivered than EVERY baby should. (that is in my perfect mental world though!)Hope you are able to come to terms with the c-section or you are able to get the VBAC you desire.
